35mm screening of In the Mouth of Madness on Wednesday and a 35mm screening of Evil Dead II on Thursday. Can't complain.

The Wolf Man (1941) - We played Universal Monster movies all day at our coffee house yesterday but I worked late at my real job so I was only able to get there for the last one. So much atmosphere in those old classics.

WORLD WAR Z: 7/10 disappointing but still some breathtaking moments of zombiapocalypse

PACIFIC RIM: 5/10 some great visual moments and Idris Elba is a fantastic actor otherwise 0% original and gutless and way too "American" (so why hire Guillermo Del Toro to do it?) paper thin scenario.

DAYBREAKERS: 4/10 crappy scenario, though the beginning with a vampire-dominated world was a nice idea. All the rest: snoozefest (last 5 minutes are ok)

THE LOVED ONES: 6/10 unknown Aussie survivor/torture teen movie. Creepy at times, efficient but nothing new under the sun.

Yesterday I watched Paul Schrader's Hardcore and Sam Peckinpah's Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Both way ahead of their time and pretty damn disturbing.

Just came from the screening of the Jodorowsky's Dune

For those who don't know in the 70's Alejandro Jodorowsky tried to make maybe one of the biggest piece of cinematic history by filming the Frank Herbert's Dune. Casting included Orson Welles, Salvador Dali, Mick Jagger etc. with art by Moebius, Giger and C. Foss and music by Pink Floyd and Magma. It failed. This was the documentary about that film.

It was bit of a mixed experience. Jodorowsky was every bit as crazy and esoteric, weird old man as you can expect and interviews with Giger, Producer and actors were nice. But it all was a bit too fantastic. I got the feeling that Jodorowsky (now 84) wanted to give us more than there ever really was and that he's retelling the past way he wanted it to be not how it was. He also stated who he's survived through that failure but really I don't think Jodorowsky ever got past the failure of Dune. After 40 years he's still mad with the vision he had and you can see the sorrow in his eyes when he tells how it all came down.

Anyway the documentary gave truly magical view of a movie that most likely would have been the biggest Sci-Fi film ever made and also of Jodorowsky himself.

Empowerment might be the gayest word in whole english language but fuck. That documentary really was empowering.

David Lynch - Inland Empire

The last dark and twisted obscure masterpiece from this really influential director. Usually I don't really watch anthing, but works of Lynch are essential for me. Those who don't know them I advise to check out Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway and Blue Velvet besides his last magnum opus. And no need to mention the mighty Twin Peaks serieg I guess.

With this whole Tim Burton discussion coming up in the topic for Portal's "Curtain" video, I just couldn't help but watching "Sleepy Hollow" tonight. I just love this movie, well, less the character of Ichabod Crane, but anyway, the homogenously creepy setting / design as well as the overall atmosphere are just delicously frightening, and Elfman's soundtrack for this movie is right beyond words imho. 101 minutes very well spent again, I'd say.

Usul, we have worm-signs the likes of which even God has never seen! Shocked

I think this is my favourite Lynch-movie, overall. Everything after Lost Highway sucked anyway.
