I'm selling records through my bands email.

One customer is interested about purchasing cd and soon I get this "Paypal receipt" that says someone has paid the price and so on. You know those "you got money" -messages?

Problem is that I havent given him my paypal yet, so receipt comes to bands email xxx@gmail.com but paypal is connected to my Private email zzz@gmail.com

Receipt looks real only that it's not in english.

Questions;
- is that attemp of bullshitting me? Someone frauds email receipt and tries to get goods?
- if its just misunderstanding, how can he send money to paypal that doesent exist? Could my bands email and private email be somehow connected that it (after a while) leads to my real paypal?

Getting paranoid. Forwarded it to paypal customer service and in minute there comes answer "that aint phising message". No shit Sherlock?! It aint phising and wasnt asking about that. Was asking is is this real deal and how can that happen

Can you run it through a translator? It may just be saying you have unclaimed money and need to set up your paypal acct to claim it.

You can send money to any email address, even ones that don't exist. It's a nice set up for paypal of course, the can coerce people who don't have accounts into making them and probably occasionally just get some funds that slip through the cracks and are never claimed by the recipient.

I've had the case before where I sent payment to the email address I was communicating with only to find out they use a separate email address to take payments. Sender just has to cancel payment and resend to correct email address if that's the case here.

Paypal emails always come from specific email so that's first to check. And if there is not any indication about the payment when you log to Paypal, then better tell the scum to fuck off.

Thanks!

Got not-in-english email from customer service that they have canceled the payment.

Its strange that you can send huge amounts of money to account that doesent even exist. Do a little typo with IBAN payment and it wont let you go any further. Do samekind typo when writing email and you get "mailer daemon" message.

But paypal lets you do that. There must be a big treasure hiding in some servers corner. Remember all those times when you get drunk and bored and start buying unnecessary things online. There might be typo or two. And in many cases, you dont even remember what you were doing. Hah!

From my long time experience with using PayPal, I can tell you that this was not a fraud at all.

That guy just assumed your bands email would be the one to send the money to. You can send money to ANY email, no matter whether connected to a PayPal account or not, but in the latter case PayPal will ask you (the recipient) to link this email to an existing account or to open a new account with said email. Once that is being done, the money will be deposited in this account. Otherwise it will sooner or later bounce and the sender gets the money back.

PayPal does let you send money to any email for the simple reason that this is a good way for them to acquire new customers. You wanna get the money, sign up to PayPal first!

I think it's a fraud. It happened to me a couple of times, if there is no money on your paypal account it's definitely some scam. Do not log into your paypal account using the paypal link in the email you have just received!

In this particular case there was no money on the account because the email, where it was sent to, was not linked to the account in the first place!

You have the possibility to connect multiple emails to the same paypal account and you will see the same movements on your account no matter which one you use to log in. Maybe you connected both in the past?

Just check your paypal and see if the money arrived or try to login or recover the password of your band email on ppl. Also the email should come from a legit @paypal email.

Somewhat related: What do I do if somebody hasn't paid for an item but I don't neccesarily want to give them negative feedback or deal with a claim? I never sent it, they've not responded to my messages, but I really don't wanna deal with some drawn out process. However, will it just remain in my main page forever on ebay?
