Amazing album. I'm really suprised. Already the Buried Behind the Lines hits really hard straight to my greek black metal nerve with it's obvious Thy Mighty Contract riffs!

I'm sure this is one of my top albums of the year.

Got it now. Pretty good. Reminds me a little bit more of Arghoslent than Rotting Christ, but obviously not as technical and less intricate. Arghoslent Light, if you will. There was that one doom track too. Kickdrum sound level is a bit unbalanced and I gotta set my bass to almost minimum for this one.

Also, I like how the album is within my grasp, so I can just pick up the guitar and play most of those riffs. Usually I don't want to be able to do that.

You have good skills then. Still I find some riffs to sound like some techno thrash bands, like Coroner, or Watchtower.
The third track opens in a very Arghoslent way to my mind.
Anyway, they might be simple riffs, but they stick in the head and are easy to memorize, that's how a good song works anyway !

Incongruous. Nobody is close enough to Arghoslent music wise to be able to compare.

Indeed. And I don't really hear much Arghoslent in Sacriphyx. Far more obvious is the influence of old greek black metal.

True enough.

I just could never get into arghoslent vocals (not lyrics). Which is why i like SACRIPHYX better.

Both bands rule, but I don't see how people can be familiar with Arghoslent's music and not hear it in Sacriphyx. There are plenty of times throughout the album where the feeling pops up, but the most obvious is the beginning of the first real track, "Buried Behind The Lines"... the riffing is straight out of the Arghoslent play book.

They come from a similar thread: death metal technique with heavy metal songwriting, so you'll obviously hear similarities but they're unique bands unto themselves

One of the best album I've heard in a long long time.
