Also: Hexenwood, Fagyhamu, Gholgoth, Ater Tenebrae.

And Aurea Aetas, which is simply fucking killer.

I know the guys behind Hexenwood and Fagyhamu too, just I never found the additional "plus" in these bands that is needed for me, though some old Fagyhamu materials were good. Gholgoth is weak and it does not deserve any support, also they were never that serious. What Ater Tenebrae recorded is killer, they were created when Witchraft was on hold, I forgot to mention them, they are worth checked.

I mostly agree, but judging by some bands you've included I was thinking you were going for complenteness first and foremost. And I like this Gholgoth track. As for Hexenwood, they have great non-metal parts which I totally love, and actual metal parts range from so-so to quite good.

UPD: This one does not sound bad too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZRu7NhDrdk

UPD2:

we dissociate ourselves from this hollow "Hungarian scene"

BTW, when I saw that statement some time ago, I thought you were referring to exactly the bands you've listed in the OP. Funny.

Yeah, I tried to come up with a complete list, several bands from the above mentioned are not existing anymore and/or have just one or two releases out. Several others are still active and have wider discography. By providing this, I think I did almost (never can say 100 hundred percent) comlpete job, Ater Tenebrae was forgot to be mentioned. Gholgoth never convinced me and they were not in the branch of the completely possessed. Hexenwood had some good parts on the Marblebog split and on the full-lenght too but in general I never listen to them.

Than you might learn a bit more about the Hungarian scene and check who are from a serious branch and who are not. Furthermore, check how many hollow and shitty bands are out there. Until that time you are the funny to judge by few knowledge. And what's the problem with a statement like this? Should carry the same "flame" with bands like esbat, harloch or wintenkanten? Check them out and rephrase your ideas then.

Man, I was not trying to confront you, if you got such an impression, that was totally unintentional on my side. I'm not judging anything but music I hear. I live in a different country and speak a totally different language, so unless you tell me about Hungarian scene politics (which I'd appreciate), I have no way to form a reasonable opinion on that, and I definetely do not claim to have one.

I have heard most of the bands you've listed, but I never even heard about "esbat, harloch or wintenkanten". I was lucky it seems Smile

Gyötrelem is really, really good. Some of the gloomiest and most fucked-up sounding music I've heard in a long while.

No problem, just got it that you are trying to be cynical and ironic about the question. As for the Hungarian scene in short: believe me, I am really into the depth of if and know almost everything / everybody personally, these are the only bands you have to know and check (maybe some mistakes can occur, like Ater Tenebrae). These bands are serious considering their ideology and music, and they follow the dark path with total dedication. All the rest are just shallow attempts without and deeper content and with total medicore or shitty music. These 3 shit-bands were just examples but there are really many other unserious clowns. Just try to check out wintenkanten, type it on youtube.

What I recommend you in first place, check these out, find almost from everything on youtube or other source:

Some really great stuff here (Although I used to love that Marblebog album until I noticed how bad the drums drift out of time in places...now I can't stop noticing it, which ruins the otherwise medative atmosphere)

Relevant to my interests as I might be moving to Budapest next year.

I can get you in touch with some worthy people if you will have to move there. Yeah, that Marblebog album is really killer, but drums are sometimes a bit chaotic compared to the music. The reason for it is that the album has been already recorded without drums but than Gelal was asked to make some normal drums under it and after some listening he played it. Despite that, I still very like this album, a really good one.

Sear Bliss and Marblebog are the only bands that matter to me. However, I do appreciate Solus.
