When I was a kid, SOTBA was probably amongst the first ten or twenty black metal albums I bought -- I liked it, sure, but pretty quickly found better stuff.
........ Oh but shit, now I remember, this brings me back!
This one time on Swedish radio (P3) they were live-streaming full concerts from the Hultsfred festival, must have been '97-'98 or so, and I popped in a tape and recorded a Dark Funeral gig on the A-side, and a fucking Gravediggaz gig on the B-side!
Yes, that Gravediggaz -- the Wu-Tang Clan side-project.
That tape was fucking killer!
Next time I'm at my parents' place, I'll go digging for it... But mostly for the B-side, to be honest!

Now, that would be something worth checking out
If and when you find it drop me a PM as I would like a copy, if only for nostaligia's sake.
WuTang and all their numerous side projects is the only hip-hop I am interested in, if at all... _________________ Family first but Blasphemy a close second...

Look, if you're new to this kind of music (and there's no shame if you are) here are seven good albums you might want to start out with:
SarcóI_LOVE_PENIS -- I.N.R.I.
Samael -- Worship Him
Tormentor -- Anno Domini
Isengard -- Vinterskugge
Emperor -- In The Nightside Eclipse
Funeral Mist -- Salvation
Teitanblood -- Seven Chalices
Some new, some old, different styles, different tempos... Let me know if you find something you like, and I can recommend some more stuff along those lines.
(If you're trolling, congrats, you got me.) |

By the DF is a generic/boring version of fast-era Marduk...
Although I saw them once opening for some band which for the life of me I cannot remember - and Caligula was so polite and nice to the crowd (not very kvlt) so I gotta give him points for that!!! _________________ Family first but Blasphemy a close second...

Up to Diabolis Interium it's good, after that it became irrelevant. _________________ Eva, ave Isis. Vade Lilith, vade retro Mirzam! Jesus Bethlemitus maledictus est! Gloria tibi, Domine Lucifere, per omnia saecula, saeculorum. Amen.

Haha, will do!
Sunz of Man was the Necros Christos of Wu-Tang side-projects.

QFT. Plus I prefer the Unisound mix of the debut over the Abyss mix it was released with. |
that's interesting, what do you prefer about the unisound version? I've always felt to be inferior to the abyss mix. could be because I grew up with the album mix and only got that double disc a few years back. _________________ DVLZRX - I FEEL TENSION!!! |

It's not just a different mix, but an entirely new recording. The first recording has a more Swedish death metal sound to it, bit in the direction of old Necrophobic. The Abyss mix set probably the standard for the "fast Swedish black metal" subgenre. _________________

I always thought SotBA lacked any real depth. A friend recenlty played a few tracks from it and I like it better now then I did back in 96. I'm still obsessed with WAR though. "Stand and fight for the superior race! You are nothing... but worms!" _________________ Death over enslavement. |
