this is NOT a pointless time-waster for NWOBHM shut-ins, this thread is a solicitory kultural study ov Heavy Metal aesthetics and the limits ov typographical legibility.
The discourse is twofold in it's enrichment:
1.
participants may SUBMIT mega-unreadable band name logos up to but not necessarily inkluding old-fashioned technical pencil idiosyncracies like the great Mike Kovacs ov SORATH fame, but certainly inkluding south-american-style broken pencil scratching on wet cardboard chevrons and Ledney and/or Holocausto ballpoint still-lifes

brave attempts to DECIPHER this bionik graffitti like unorthodox egyptologists on an NDE-level heroik ketamine dosage having a game ov Chinese fucking telephone as AK would say. Cyrillic, Arabic, Pictograms are all excepted making this even W.O.R.S.E.

We seem to get tagged into this area pretty often. There's even some youtube video somewhere of a 'illegible metal logo' contest amongst record store employees. There are 10 logos that are being reviewed. Ours is the last one. Only one person knew who it was. I'd try and dig it up but I'm at work and can't.

Thanks for submitting; I'm sure this thread subject is very unoriginal but I genuinely am interested in this sort ov thing...
...in the definitiv line where a letterform becomes purely illustration is fascinating because the brain-center that processes the info suddenly changes from left hemisphere (words, codes, cryptology) to right (images, commonalities).
In most cases things either "read" or they don't, but in these cases it depends on how adept is the receiver.

Thanks. Took me about 6 hours to draw.  .. wanted to make it at least somewhat decipherable. |
