They've been crushing it every night so far on the tour with Deafheaven. Setlist is a perfect blend of the last two records—everything just works. The band deserves to spread their music to "the masses." Also, the brand new 7" is being sold on tour! A-side is their Cure cover and B-side is an Offspring cover.

The California Punk band Offspring?
I think this is the song, "Pay The Man".
I have never heard this song in my life, but the whole beginning sounds like could be a Tribulation song. Prepare to be surprised, it is not Punk at all.

I like Tribulation and have no problems with coverversions of non-metal songs (usually far more interesting than yet another version of Seek & Destroy or Ace of Spades), but wtf?
What's next, a death metal band covering Blink 182?

Honestly, if you heard the Tribulation version without knowing or hearing the original, you would have no idea it's an Offspring song.

I've been contemplating getting to the Minneapolis show this coming week. I really really don't savor the idea of mingling with Deafheaven hordes, but I really dig the new Tribulation album. So maybe I will? I guess it's a good enough time as any to actually see Deafheaven. Maybe they'll be good? Maybe I'll go full "gauze metal or no entry" after the show? I guess I'll find out.

You should go and see Tribulation. They're in top form now! Don't let others "ruin" it for you.

This!

Just the fact that you're comparing The Offspring to Blink 182.....
The original is good. An interesting choice which I think Tribulation will make their own.

Well I'm far from being a metal purist, I like loads of music that would be considered gay by most people here, I just always thought that Offspring were a horrible band for "rebellious" teenagers, at least the commercial era which I remember from TV & radio. I checked that song out and it sounds a lot more interesting than Pretty Fly or whatever crap they are known for, but still a weird choice for me...

Well, from what i remember in the 90's The Offspring where in the same "league" of Greenday and the likes. So the Blink182 comparision is not that big of a stretch. Even if the man didn't really COMPARED both bands...
Either way, its all shitty punk pop.

Just for the record, The Offspring were a 'real' punk band before the poppy stuff you guys are referring too.

I'll grab the 7" at the show. That is later era Offspring, too. Odd choice for sure. But cool to see Tribulation doing what they want.

I will be bailing before Deafheaven.

3 degree's of separation Very Happy

Black metal misanthrope likes one particular 'hip' band and next thing you know you and a whole hoard of very happy radio rockers could be best friends all due to one cross over cover song Laughing
