This album gets a really bad rap, but I have dug it out and been relistening to it recently and have come to I think that (other than sounding like shit) it has some really great songs.

Nightly Paradise/Third Eye: http://youtu.be/asp4d0tEZX4

Although it is obviously no where near as good as the first two albums, it is at least on par with the Sjel Av Natten material. Also, the progression in song style/writing is interesting and promising. With a better vocalist and sound it could be a pretty great album.

Opinions?

Edit: anyone know if they are working on anything new? or is it dead now?

I liked it when it came out, raw and ballsy yet not unoriginal. Some pretty good lyrics too. Haven't been listening to it much since then though.

I actually think it might be better than the first album.

I thought it was terrible. The hipster like album doesn't help either.

It's not bad when I'm in the mood for it

It's a weird one; I remember absolutely loving it when it first came out and listening to it loads. I listened to it again a year or so ago and though it was boring as hell. And my opinions don't change that much with albums I like - normally once I'm into something, it sticks. But it was like it had somehow metamorphised into a completely diffferent album to the one I first heard.

The Bob Larson/Boyd Rice sample it the best thing about it, and I'd rather hear those interviews in their own right.

is the word 'art' missing here?

I actually like the cover. Not sure what's 'hipster' about it.

to call it hipster is pretty retarded. Forgotten Woods' style was tending toward non metal song writing since the beginning of the band.

edit: I agree with the above comment that Race of Cain is the most aggressive FW album by a decent margin.

Good album. Odd cover. Laughing

...but is it really that odd? I tend to think for some strange reason people would like the music better had the album a black and white forest or wolves on it all contrasted to the point of stark black/white.

Good album!

Forget the cover, the full booklet is hipstershit instead.

But the album is good, indeed. Not mandatory, but an enjoyable listen.

Hipster is the new "hip" word. Hipster this, hipster that. Hipsters with hip beards sit in coffee shops talking to other hipsters about how other people are hipsters and those same people refer to those people as hipsters and I guess I'm a fucking hipster for bringing it up. I have an Ice cream headache. Confused

It's an ok album, but "The Curse of Mankind" > anything else.

FW loves Sylvia Plath right? (Actually, doesn't Wrest too? She is v good though)

I remember really digging the intro and the last song and that weird folk tune, but none of the metal tracks really stood out.
