+1

Armagedon "Invisible Circle"
Pestilence "Testimony of the Ancients"
Damnation "Reborn..." (the band in general should've gotten more recognition)
Unleashed "As Yggdrasil Trembles"
Amorphis "The Karelian Isthmus"

And I remember liking Elysian Fields "Adelain" LP and no one back then knew this band or album. I think they turned into a Black Metal band or something but their debut was very different than most DM that was being released during that time. Not to mention that BM was getting more attention than DM.

I had Cancer's Death Shall Rise on tape as a kid; hadn't listened to it since probably about 95 when I switched to CDs. I looked it up on Youtube the other day on a nostalgia kick. It made me realize that, along with Benediction, Morta Skuld, Impaler, Morgoth, Solstice, Gorefest, etc., I listened to a lot of amazingly average death metal in the early 90s.

thought of another one, Sorcery - Legacy of Blood, or if you prefer the original master - Bloodchilling Tales.

Solstice [...is nothing special]

I honestly think Solstice's s/t debut is one of the best Morrisound albums... total ripper from start to finish. EVery time I play it I feel like ripping off my shirt, chugging PBR, and moshing.

I think this is rated about right, the demos rule the album itself is pretty average.
