Looking for artists in the "Jazz Noir" genre. Dark, atmospheric jazz music. The best example I can think of is Bohren & Der Club Of Gore. Provide links as well! Old and new artists welcome.

More on the noisy side, but GOD is good! Not really too jazzy, though.

Definitely these.

The first Lounge Lizards LP might be a little too playful & chaotic for what you're after, but give it a try as well.

Are you familiar with the RIO bands and Heresie, backwards? It's probably more 'avant garde' but truly pitch black and excellent:

Barry Adamson (who also contributed to several David Lynch movies/soundtracks) is worth checking out, not neccessarily that "dark" all the time, sometimeswith a good bit of humour but still.

His soundtrack for The Straight Story is right up there for me, too.

More on topic. I know it's fucking videogames, but Halo ODST had some fine moments.
