That is indeed a very accurate comparison. Even though I like the similitude.

Domus Mysterium is an excellent album, well written and put together. Beautiful and Damned was fantastic as well. this band just keeps getting better with each release.

Yeah, the novelty of their Gothenburg melody has run thin. This new album is enjoyable, in a pop-minded kind of way, but I'm not sure I'll listen to it ever again. Who knows though, I've all sorts of unpredictable impulses these days.

Couldn't agree more, all things considered. Evil or Very Mad

Beautiful and damned is great as an EP. The album is pretty much the same but way too long and less catchy. I had to stop it halfway through and didn't come back to it yet.

Got a copy of the LP earlier this week. After a couple listens, I think its really good. I still heavily prefer Ildsvanger, but this is a strong album IMO. Some of the riffs are similar to Ildsvanger, the tone is just pretty different. I think the weakest track is the one they released as a preview with the announcement of the album.

This band comes from a whole scene of boy bands so I can understand the image change. Some riffs are OK, but overall is too anthemic and upbeat for me. I'll stick with old metal for these qualities.

Judging by that song, I imagine they are about to become very big. The backlash starts here folks...

I thought it already started after the last album, and for some even with the EP follow-up to Ildsvanger?

Hell, even Ildsvanger probably rubbed -someone- the wrong way who was a big fan of the demo and split with White Medal.

In any event, another case of tranny vampirism plague spreading I guess? maybe it's not quite that bad.

The 'Beatiful and Damned' EP was still very good I think. The album didn't live up to my expectations.

Being a bit of a White Medal fanatic I first came across these guys on the split. Wasn't too gone on the Slaegt side but it was ok I guess. Was very surprised when I picked up the Beautiful and Damned tape on a whim somewhere to hear the complete change in direction from totally raw to polished and clean sound. I just gave that new song there a whirl, and yep, same 'new' Tribulation type feel I'm getting again. To illustrate the comparison I loved Tribulations Formulas album. The progression from debut was great as the sinister and mysterious atmosphere was complimented by dark and labyrinthine songs. They subsequently lost it with a focus on polished goth fashion play acting, with the metal sounding totally ridiculous and actually juvenile as there was no accompanying atmosphere to justify the riffs and vocals. Exact same now with Slaegt. They may have 'grown up' and abandoned the raw BM style but in replacing it with a poppy accessible sound they have lost the very reason to play metal and make it worthwhile in the first place.

Good sounding musicians, but I listen to jazz when I want to hear talented musicians. I don't listen to catchy pop metal for any reason and nor should anyone else over the age of 20 with no intellectual disabilities.
