| Their full length always reminded me of Lovecraft's more surreal stories. It's one of those albums that doesn't really need a genre definition...if you like it obscure and dark as hell, you'll be into it without a doubt. |

If you can, get the LP boxset from Relapse. I payed around $8 postage and something around $25 for it, and it arrived ultra fast. Disembowlment have a very disturbing sound; the mixture of clean and distorted down-tuned guitars is really effective.

Disembowelment are an all time favourite, I couldn't really recommend them enough! As for Infester - brilliant, shame they only did one album too!
I'm not familiar with Imprecation though.
As for the comment about "gay doom", that's kind of like saying Cradle of Filth are representative of black metal, and that you won't listen to black metal because you don't like CoF. Personally I'm a fan of old My Dying Bride etc, but I can understand why people don't like these bands, especially when you consider how gay they are now, and what kind of audience they attract these days, and all the crap clone bands... |

| As far as I know these bands are good, but maybe Drawn and Quartered and Funebrarum may have the vibe you're looking for. I can't remember either bands material too well but they're bound to sound different... |

You should trying listening to the whole album from start to finish, read the lyrics and look at the artwork. Infester is one of the most morbid sounding death metal albums ever made! |
