Was looking for something similar to the new Lord Mantis (which I’m spinning at least once daily) and stumbled upon a bunch of old TITD vids.
Man, that guy is pissed. Never gave them a serious chance.
Where to start? The angrier the better, need some new lifting music.

'In the Eyes of God' is fucked! I think it has shaped my writing over the years.

My favorite's Temple of the Morning Star. In the Eyes of God is probably the easiest to swallow.

they're kind of two different bands before after joining Relapse. the Amphetamine Reptile stuff is proggy noise-rock, with Willpower being the best album of that era. Of the Relapse onwards stuff, I love Sadness Will Prevail though I realise it may not be to everyone's tastes...it's a complete mess tbh.

there's some seriously good stuff on that album, but a lot of filler too.

AmRep period is the best, check out "supernova" and "willpower"

Once the metal scene 'discovered' them i jump off; the sudden 'evil' image and vibe comes off as pandering more than anything...

Best parts are the samples from ”American Movie”. Awesome documentary about two middle aged burnouts from Milwaukee trying to make the horror movie of their dreams, recommended!

Self titled through Kiss the Pig are all worth checking out, the last two being the weakest IMO.

Willpower, Temple of the Morning Star and In the Eyes of God are good jumping off points. But I love Sadness Will Prevail. As someone else mentioned, it doesn't fit everyone's taste, but has some of their harshest and ugliest material. This song kills me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WptignJ_qs

Willpower, the S/T, and the debut are easily my favorites in that order. I've tried to get into the Relapse stuff but it just dosen't have the same charm.

In the Eyes of God is a fucking masterpiece.

There isn't anything else like it.

I've never checked out this band, probably because the name just reminds me too much of an Alcoholics Anonymous slogan or something.

I never checked them out because the name sounded like they would be a shitty emo/screamo band lol. I'll have to give them a listen.
