Somebody probably already mentioned Chao's Spiritus Sankti in this thread...but if not, check that recording out if you like Svartidaudi...

Chao is brilliant. I would also mention Vanskopun.

But I wouldn't compare or equal them to Svartidaudi in any way, mind you.

I had to go back and listen to Chao again a few times after I listened to Flesh Cathedral and realized the two bands shared a member. Smile

I was more impressed with Gone Postal (the newer tracks - not the older more death metal oriented material) than Chao. Another band that has really caught my eye along with Svartidaudi.

friday and sunday were best

DBs seems to suffer from sound issues more often. I found the feedback during Verbum Verus to be pretty bad and when I saw Conan live there seemed to be a constant wall of feedback. I only recognized their last track because I knew it by heart....

Not a big Conan fan but I have listened to some tracks that I thought were quite good, but both times I have seen them live I have had to leave due to the unbearable feedback. I think it's their "thing"

Check out the other three Gone Postal videos (it's their whole set) that user has up while you're at it.

Some great stuff this Gone Postal video. Not sure why it's labeled as Death Metal on Metal-Archives though.

Yeah. Their first album is pretty much slam/brutal death metal or something.

Real disconnect between their name and what they now sound like. Sad

Maybe they'll change it.
