its out there, have given it a couple of spins and I liek it a lot. Clean vocals are to a minimum and although the production took some getting used to i'm really digging it now. Thoughts?

My favorite song so far on the album is Supreme Humanism of Megalomania.

Just checked this out to see what all the fuss is. These guys haven't been interesting since Black Seeds, I think it's a brave move to incorporate clean vocals, I think that works well, but the song isn't particularly good. The production is really weak, it doesn't sound heavy at all Those shouted vocals are awful as well, they sound like a really weak version of the great ones on the first album.

Eventhough I am most familiar with their old work, I've always found interesting songs on their more recent releases too. If you doubt their quality just listen to Lashed to the slave stick, not many bands can write such a song.

Was Black seeds ever rereleased on vinyl? I got to know them with that album but never found the vinyl version.

Edit: also, does anybody know where I can get this new album + those whom the gods detest both on vinyl at the same time?

I'm currently listening the new album and although it's not that bad but did not blow my head off at first listen.

IMO, the latest magnum opus that Nile has released was Annihilation of the Wicked.

Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka is an amazing album, but nothing I've heard since then has been as good. Then again, I've just sampled the others. Do they have anything else that is typically seen as good or better than that album?

"Black Seeds of Vengeance" and to a lesser extent "Annihilation of the Wicked" are both highly regarded. Their fans seem to split between thinking "Black Seeds" or the debut is best.

No mention of In Their Darkened Shrines? That and Black Seeds are my favorites by them, but Catacombs and Annihilation are really good as well. After that, lost interest. The two songs I heard online don't interest me the slightest bit. Over-technical, no feeling, prod is way to clean and bland. Boring shit.

The digi-pak version has much better artwork.

Also when is this officially out?

Yep, In their Darkened Shrines was always good for me, also. I don't think I've heard much after that, though.

Did anyone hear the pre-Nile demo tapes? I had one on the way a few years ago but she never turned up. Sad It's not Morriah.
