Has the numbers of flyers being sent out decreased the last couple of years? I seem to get far fewer than I used to, and barely any xerox ones, mainly just the pro-printed ones now.

If so, what effect will this have for the smaller labels and fanzines? Most fanzines I buy are the result of seeing a flyer, even if I don't buy them direct from the seller, I usually recognise the name in disro lists and eventually get round to buying them.

Is this the fault of the shopping cart/Paypal system? What's the solution? E-flyers? (always end up ignoring most of these though, and they only end up being limited to who you know, whilst I've had flyers with addresses printed on the back from several different countries...)

I've got a big bag of them but can't send them out as most distros want payments with PayPal rather than cash in the post these days.... Guess I can use them to decorate my walls though....

And have there ever been any NWN! flyers?!?

i think the internet has made flyers somewhat less useful. i mean, anyone on this board (or one like it) is likely to know of most relevant releases before they are even finished since label owners make announcements ahead of time. its true that old xerox flyers look cool but maybe they arent worth the time for most labels. having said that, i just made a flyer for that bestial raids/hellish release and i plan to do more to promote upcoming relases.

nwn did do flyers early on. i think especially for labels of that size it is hardly worth the time. though im sure that, if yosuke had any spare time (which i assure you he does not) he would still make them because he likes the aesthetics of cut and paste/xerox flyers.

and about people's flyer collections, i would actually be interested in seeing some pics if anyone has any. admittedly, as mastubator said, such photos are "humbling" but still interesting nonetheless.

I get flyers often.

I collect them too, keeping one of each and send away the rest

in 20 years they are vintage and cult

I have a flyer of Bone Awl, it's big and quite nicely done. I have it for like 2 years now.
Also a Sabbat flyer that was included in the Tudor die hard

I've some ugly xeroxed flyers with minimalistic design from NWN early days (when it works as an UG label.) It comes with the previous releases and with some letters.

I guess it's another step in the inevitable modernization of the underground. Still, it's much more satisfying to get flyers direct from the band and make contact through them than to have to sit up at 2 in the morning in front of the computer making sure I haven't missed anything!

Maybe the labels are still making flyers, but bands seem to have become a bit lazy recently. Not so many of the crazily drawn xeroxed ones with dodgy porn for extra incentive.

Same as me! Also I'm putting some of flyeres on my wall (for exemple I have a VON (from NWN rerelase) flyer with information that vinyl is comming soon he he, back side is Abigail as I remember, also have NWN flyeres from Witches Hammer and Goatvomit). Flyers is same part of underground as zines or demo-tapes (fuck demo-cdr).

I'm a zine editor and allways add my flyers to the letters/packs (and also spread other flyers), I take my zine flyers even for concerts and give them to the people or just put on tables (do anyone saw a DOOM flyer on Triumph of Death fest with Asphyx in Berlin? I spread more than 100)
