with the 2nd of June ill be there for 1 week, any BM concerts/festivals during that time? where to go, not necessary metal related, i want to see the heart of nature, old factories in isolation/abandoned places if any, i want to accomodate in the most unadulterated by time city there, to eat and drink traditional stuff and try your sauna. the budget is between 1500-1700eur without plane tickets, im interested in bringing home traditional handmade souvenirs, are locals doing this or where to buy. ultimately i want to get wasted in the most black metal bar you have there, which and where, also any sort of nightlife? thanks

Well you are missing annual Steelfest by couple weeks which is the only proper black/death metal festival.

For places to go it depends where you actually are going to be at.

I'll update this later, but at least:

I’d suggest:

Suomenlinna (in Helsinki) http://www.suomenlinna.fi/en/
National Museum of Finland (in Helsinki) http://www.kansallismuseo.fi/en/index
Some national parks etc, check this http://www.nationalparks.fi/en/welcome and go to Destinations for more info

For food and activities in Helsinki, check: http://www.visithelsinki.fi/en/stay-and-enjoy/eat/finnish-cuisine-in-helsinki#/?listing_id=52333&mode=list

If you're near Turku, I'd visit Seili ( http://www.nationalparks.fi/en/seili?inheritRedirect=true ) and old parts of Turku overall.
From Helsinki, it's easy to visit Porvoo ( https://www.visitporvoo.fi/old-porvoo ), the old part is quite nice.

For BM-stores:

http://www.kvlt.fi (in Helsinki)
http://www.sarvilevyt.fi (in Lahti, easy to travel from Helsinki)

Although most of my hints are located in Helsinki, there are great places to visit all over Finland, Tampere is bigger city with nice activities and the local food-culture is surely better outside Helsinki.

For saunas, I don't really know as I have my own (like most of the people here), but here are few places (unknown for myself):

http://www.saunahermanni.fi (click the globe to switch into english)
http://arlansauna.net
http://www.kulttuurisauna.fi

that world heritage site i will visit for sure. i will check the national parks in detail.
museums are not my thing, ive been before in many and left me bored to death, as for record shops i ceased to buy physical stuff except clothes, is getting 2 years now, and what i bought i sold it unopened, totally lost interest.
musically i have tasted Finland almost daily, with this trip i want to experience the traditional stuff no matter form.
l.e: thanks for the other links too. i can be anywhere i want at any time, i can extend the budget if transport will be costly, i just have one week thats the problem.

If you'd have more time, you should head to Lapland.

Things you need to try.

Karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pie), look for some fresh in bakeries and such, not the store-bought ones...

Fazer milk chocolate

And all the birches, firs and pines. Pines! As far as the eye can see.

Suomenlinna is recommended when being in helsinki. I was recommended by it couple months ago after visiting Mikko A.
Also as usual when being in Lahti he took me here : http://www.lahtiregion.fi/en/see-and-do/lanu-sculpture-park
Perhaps someone remembers the statues on, hmm was it 3rd, Album of Fleshpress? Statue is to be seen in that park.
Of course visiting his shop should be done. You'll find alot more stuff then on his webshop!

I've not been to Finland, but I intend to go in the next five years specifically for backpacking/camping. Looks just about as good as it is here in Canuckistan, so if I were you I'd take an overnight trip to a national park.

Sorry for the off-topic, but in early 90s, in my childhood years, I was visiting Finland several times, and there was like a chocolate, made from bouffant (?) rices, covered in thin layer of chocolate. I remember the package was of yellow or orange glossy paper, though I'm even not sure it was made in Finland. Any idea what kind of chocolate that was and if it's still available in shops?

This?

Otherwise you can use Google image seach and try words like riisisuklaa, riisisuklaalevy and riisisuklaapatukka and maybe you'll find it.

It doesn't look exactly like an image that is standing in my head, but yes - something really similar. Thanks!

There's no shortage of rice chocolates, but some of those old ones are either somehow rebranded or discontinued. Look for Fazer, Cloetta and Brunberg chocolates available everywhere. Be sure to try Kismet, Pätkis and Tupla. And Suffeli and Stratos. If you want to gross yourself out, get some Pihlaja marmelades.... the horror!

I remember the Conan bit and Late Night was really big in Finland in the early to mid 2000s thanks to a brave enough network who basically made him around here. There are two last names on the door though, Forss and Fagerstrom.

Yes I am Fagersturm now very funny.
