For me, Incantation/USDM clones are the worst. Mostly because there are so many of them, it is my favorite style of DM, and at least once in awhile one of them is excellent (meaning that I actually feel a motivation to sift through all the crap ones to locate some greatness). Of course every category has at least some worthwhile bands lurking in the pile...

There are many more genres suffering from the "cookie cutter band" disease. Orthodox BM and Discharge clones for example. But these 4 seem to be the most prominent offenders.

Anyway, which "clone genre" is the crappiest? Which has the worst ratio of garbage to quality? Discuss.

Darkthrone ones are worst for me. Partly, perhaps, because that's the style of those four that I'm least interested in (with a few exceptions, including Darkthrone themselves). But also partly because I think there are more bands with no musical worth whatsoever that realized, "Hey, we can sound sorta like that with very little effort!" It takes a certain level of musical accomplishment to clone the other mentioned styles, even though the resulting songs may lack passion or creativity, but being fake-Darkthrone seems like a bastion for a lot of talentless hacks.

There's a fair number of bad bands doing the Blasphemy thing too, but not quite as many - or maybe some of them are better at obscuring their lack of skills behind the wall of noise.

I chose the Norsecore-clones because afaicr they've been around the longest and for every good darkclone there's been at least twenty bad ones.
