Got an older 7" and the problem is, that the ink from the insert has been transfered to the vinyl itself. I don't care about the label, but the grooves.

Any idea if a good cleaner would help or glue?

Up for once - It seems water or alcohol can't fix this.

Anyone has any similar experiences, is this a lost case?

Never had such problem, how did this happen ? Too much weight on it for many years ? A picture could help to see what can be done.

Maybe try white vinegar, afaik this is much better than alcohol on many surfaces and way less harmful. It shouldn't affect the grooves.

Back then, there often was no inner-sleeves, so the insert was directly in contact with the vinyl and this is the result.

The wood glue cleaning method may be worth a shot?

I have no experience with it on vinyl but maybe some acetone. Are you able to rub the paint off in the blank non playing area?

is acetone not too aggressive? I mean for the vinyl itself?

a soft sponge + warm water + some washing-up liquid. Rub gently, rinse and dry.
