From The Independent.Co.Uk

Phil "Philthy Animal Taylor", 57, died Sunday of complications from AIDS. He was the drummer with the band Motorhead (1975-1984, 1987-1992), which sold several million albums and whose hits included "Ace Of Spades." During a July 2007 interview with radio station KNAC in Los Angeles, Taylor disclosed he had AIDS, speculating he contracted the disease when he began using heroin. "I have full-blown AIDS," he said. "Basically, it's killing me. ...I've been in the hospital for eight straight months, and in and out for over seven years." Longtime friend Lemmy Kilmister said Taylors's decision to go public was an altruistic one. "I'm sure that was an attempt by Phil to help others learn from his mistakes," Kilmister said.

I hope this is a rumour but i don't think it is.

Not saying this is complete bullshit, but here's another link to a forum that says he died last sunday TWO WEEKS ago:

http://www.thenoiseboard.com/index.php?showtopic=184647

There's also no record of it on the site it cites as a source.

EDIT: more suggestion that this is not true:

Apparently this has been going around persistently.

Login date would seem to indicate otherwise. Philthy never used heroin.

Hopefully true. Can't wait for the day that Lemmy fag passes away and stops plagueing the world with his useless records, Motorhead is the most overrated band in the history of music.

If you think they are overrated now, Lemmy's death would hardly help your cause.

Fag? I bet Lemmy has nailed more women than you and your best friends ever will.

And about your opinion on Motörhead's music, I respect everyone's opinion but you're wrong. Wink

If by "women" you mean some painfully horrid HIV-infected sluts that no one with a brain that works would even dare to approach, then you're correct. I'm used to date fancy disco females with proper clothing taste and no heroin addiction.

Without The Beatles, Motorhead wouldn't exist. Same logic.

From Alan Burridge (Motörheadbangers) :

Friday, April 18, 2008
Motorblog Philthy Animal Taylor: Is alive and well despite some cruel web-posting to say he died of AIDS after using heroin; in fact, Todd Singerman actually called Phil to notify him of his 'passing' and Phil agreed that both his death and the reason for it are complete bollocks! There was even a comment from Lemmy about his long-time drummer's 'death' which sucks even more!
