I was excited with Irish/Icelandic scene when I first stumbled on bands like wormlust, haud mundus, slidhr and rebirth of nefast, the split of WL/HM being a real highlight, as well as any material from RoN.
But in later years I feel like all the icelandic bm that gets hyped is trendy garbage in the vein of nightbringer etc, no thanks. Huge pass from me, coupled with the fact that there are no obscure and truly occult releases in their history and the decline in quality from aforementioned bands (wormlust LP was not good) I feel no need to sing praises to that country.

New E.P

Don't think it was mentioned elsewhere here.

Sounds weirdly 'melodic'. I'm not sure, will listen a few more times.

I'm really enjoying the new EP. Looking forward to pick up a physical copy! Hopefully at Bjørgvin Black Mass.

Check out this band. I think they're pretty refreshing and unique.

Yeah, weird, eccentric, interesting stuff! Doesn't sound typically 'icelandic' by any means, compared to many of the bands in this thread.

Sounds like someone has been listening to a lot of Dodsengel.

I haven't passionately followed the ICE scene lately but I suppose this is a fairly fresh project. Good stuff, slow, repetitive and hypnotic with psychedelic tone.

I was conservatively skeptical about the melodic nature of this release but I listened to this a few times and I'm sold. That being said, I hope they'll keep within the margins of the melody's they chose for their debut. Regardless, being a fan who usually loathes melodic music, Sinmara just does it right, so I'll always return to assess a new contribution to the genre.
