Not that I wish to judge a band based on something as simple as their name, but I always thought that was among the gayest and most cliche'd names I'd heard in this sub-sub genre. Same with the likes of Self Inflicted Violence, though I am informed that both artists are competent at what they're doing. Just my personal take on it.
I do like some of the bands that have been mentioned or who are associated with this category of music, but I find much of the ideology to be quite childish and silly and seems the realm of people who have not got over their adolescent years and pubescent anxieties for the most part. |

It's a project called "The Rain In Endless Fall" that has existed for a few years now but just released the demo 'Weald of Introspection' on my label last month. Mp3s can be found everywhere, and a re-press is coming soon. There is also a related project entitled "Wylve" which features the same members. |

I am one of those people!, Jhva Elohim Meth... the Revival and the 2 first albums were the only releases from Katatonia which I used to listen, I never give a proper listen to Discouraged Ones until today and you're totally right!, this stuff is great!. |

Couldn't find APATI (swe) mentioned. They surely have some unique material, even if many accuse them of copying acts like LIFELOVER. Obehag of APATI died from overdose last year.
DSBM as a sub-genre has (like any other genre or sub-genre) its major part of shitty acts. But also some very, very good ones. Depressive "moods" in black metal is to me a much appreciated thing, when performed and arranged in a good way.

Speaking for myself, I always perceive the bands (Which I worship) of this genre (Yep, we all now that the 98% are shit, just like any subgenre of Black metal), more like a Dark melancholy mood, than "Depressive", but to be honest I never suffer from Clinical Depression, so maybe that's why I have no Idea about the conexion between this term and the music itself.
