It would be nice to have the album finally on vinyl format. It's like anything else that hasn't been put on vinyl. With proper mastering for vinyl and bigger artwork, better layout, it makes it worth while. Warmer sound, visual aesthetics = the point of vinyl. The only thing I hate is the high cost of vinyl these days.

I'm not worried. The Thou Shalt Suffer DLP will be awesome. It will include the original cover artwork from the 1997 N.A.P. recording, unpublished photos and artwork, new liner notes and newly supplied master audio tracks from Samoth, as well as 2 exclusive unreleased demo tracks. Plus, it's legit! Very Happy

Since the demo was recorded on a cassette tape, is there a way to make a vinyl master directly from that?

Samoth unfortunately doesn't have any of the originals anymore. All he had was the original album DAT, plus a cassette with the 2 bonus tracks we're using, so it was either use that or not release the album on vinyl at all. The choice was obvious. I could of course use an original demo cassette to master for vinyl instead, but I have yet to hear a good enough copy that I would feel comfortable using as my copy is worn and dips out in parts.

Interesting that he still has the DAT! I figured it was just recorded on the 4 track to cassette and copied...

I just wanted to know if it was even possible to use the cassette to eventually press vinyl. I have the demo from Samoth, but I'm looking forward to the release in a nice package.

Yes he send me the raw original masters tracks that were used on the 97 version of the CD which included the 7" tracks as well. It was interesting that he used the 7" for the CD as he lost the original masters for those as well. It is possible to press vinyl from a cassette if you are referring to ripping digital audio from the cassette and using those as tracks as that's what I was referring to. Anyways, all the tracks sound amazing and should be ready for vinyl release this summer.

Thanks! I appreciate the support! You won't be disappointed! Samoth has approved all masters and artwork. He is very particular. Originally he wanted to use the layout from the Candlelight version but I told him that would be an atrocity and that if he cared at all about the fans and the integrity of the release, we had to have the original cover / layout from the 97 version. That's why it took so long as he had to fish out all the original photos, but it was worth the wait! Very Happy

Anyways, thanks again!
