Joe Rico (Sacrifice guitarist) just sold a shitload of his old records to a local shop here. Scored some great old thrash/crust and metal stuff for very cheap as a result:
Venom -- Warhead 12" Blue vinyl $5
Nuclear Assault -- Brain Death 12" $4
Venom -- French Assault $8
Captain Beyond - s/t LP $8
Mentors -- Sex Drugs and Rock n Roll LP $6
.. and so on. Things like that rarely ever hapen in this town though. It was a feeding frenzy.
Probably the cheapest score I ever stumbled upon was Venom -- Black Metal on grey marble wax in almost mint condition for $12 in a second hand/junk shop on the side of the highway outside of Toronto. Nothing has come close since then. |

I bought several Order From Chaos 7" EPs from Brandubh at LARM many years ago for about $9 total.
There was a fellow in Denmark still selling copies of Moonblood's "Blut und Krieg" for $16 shipped, at the same time as when it was going for $100+ on eBay (I gather it takes in more than that now).
Nothing recently. People seem to be more acutely aware of the value of things now. |

Even your typical hole in the wall used record shop seems to exhaustively look up every little thing that comes their way on e-bay these days. I live near a mostly jazz/psych/audiophile used record shop and sometimes give it a quick dig on my way home from work. Imagine my surprise when I saw a Blasphemy FAOD LP on Wild Rags sitting behind the counter. "Can't put it out yet, dont know how much its worth." Right.
Next day, it was on the wall for $200. Feh.
Everybody across the board seems to be making it their business to know the exact worth of everything. A profit must be turned, sure, but is it me or is it getting harder (though no less enjoyable of course) being a record collector these days? |

I love hunting through used stores... nothing quite like stumbling on an absolute rarity for next to nothing. Sadly there are virtually no vinyl stores around here, but I've found some wicked CDs... here's a few:
ABRUPTUM - In Umbra Malitiae Ambulabo, in Aeternum in Triumpho Tenebrarum (DSP)
ARCKANUM - Fran Marder (Necropolis, 1st colour press.. found two of these!)
ARCKANUM - Kampen (Necropolis)
ARCKANUM - Kostogher (Necropolis)
BESTIAL SUMMONING - The Dark War Continues (Warhammer)
DARKTHRONE - Soulside Journey (1st press w/ no lyrics)
HIRILORN - Legends of Evil and Eternal Death
IMMORTAL - Blizzard Beasts (1st press w/ etched case... case is in perfect shape!)
NIFELHEIM - Devil's Force (Necropolis)
Each of those were about $5 to at most $12, all in the last couple of years. |

I google down certain records regularly, usually with no results (especially when it comes to Sadistic Intent heh). Every once in a while something nevertheless pops up like Oath Of Black Blood for 15 euros, All the Witches Dance for 5 euros, just bought various eps (Dark Tranquillity, Impaled Nazarene, Beherit, etc.) for 10 dollars a piece.
In Finland every fucking record store check values from Ebay & Popsike, so I rarely find anything cheap from those.
In 1994/95 I saw Beherit/Death Yell split in Spinefarm´s record store in Helsinki , the price was 60 FIM, about 10 euros. Needless to say, it was too expensive in my opinion....little did I know. |

To answer Jacy, yes, some guy dying and the family selling the collection, it happens, I've already been contacted that way. Too bad they threw away the "papers" (fanzines) and I couldn't conclude the sale of this book written in norwegian by a guy that in picture in the guy's room (Varg's book, with signed xerox copy of newspaper article!!!!!)
Also found Running Wild "Wild Animal" 12" maxi for 3 euro among tons of cheap disco shit in a store blows (along with a Venom backpatch !) |

Burzum - Hvis lyset tar oss and Det som engang var ($42 each, original Misanthropy presses)
Nifelheim - selt-titled and Devil's Force ($20 each)
Beherit - Messe des Morts ($12)
Hellbastard - Heading for Internal Darkness ($20)
Impaled Nazarene - Ugra-Karma (with original cover ($20)
Destroyer 666 - Violence is the Prince of the World ($20)
I'd say it's not that bad considering how much I have to buy today from eBay or traders.... |
Shit! I can't believe my eyes, where did you find them, I mean, every time I check nifelheim lp's on ebay, they go for over $100 USD, absolutely out of my budget.

hahah you are not the only one, I feel the same way.
at least I found sodom "ausgebombt" very cheap, about $8.
here doesn't exist record stores with vinyl, and if you find vinyls, they are recent releases or glam rock. |

Talking about cheap vinyls, gotta mention the MORTEM - Slow death 7" I've recently secured for 15 euros!!!
Last year I secured a METALLICA - Ride the lightning green cover Lp on France Bernett Records for 5 euros.
