My copy is on a Sony tape that seems to be age-appropriate but I don't know if it's original. I got it from a Japanese seller of primarily pop music so not likely to be intentionally bootlegged and the sound is extremely good so if it's not an original it's got to be a first gen dub. Cover is a foldout xerox.

How can you say if, for example, a Mastication demo is original? Xeroxed cover and white cassettes. From a pic it seems to me impossible to say.
As so on with many others

Pretty useless revival of an old dead thread (which has been replaced already with a new one)...

However, as one topic wasn't solved yet from the last page:

Looks like a fake. Can anyone confirm? Comparing with Demoarchives photo, the insert looks weirdly mirrored. http://www.demoarchives.com/Bands/Annihilator-Can/Annihilator.asp?mistake=Annihilator&cntry=Can

There is also this photo, which has the same tape as on the auction, same "direction" of the insert, but colored as on the Demoarchives photo...
http://rapidsharemp3.com/mp3-download/14073/annihilator_phantasmagoria_demo/?getimg=1

This Annihilator tapes looks exactly like mine, including the same Sorex tape. Got mine sometime mid-90es from someone working at SPV.

What about the insert? Does it have red color on the drawing?

Well, yes, my cover is black/white/red but it looks some has drawn it by hand with a red pencil. I have the same issue on a Bloodstone - Venegeance From Beyond demo, where someone has drawn the angel in red.

Interesting... Could it be that this is the photo of your tape? http://rapidsharemp3.com/mp3-download/14073/annihilator_phantasmagoria_demo/?getimg=1? If its not, I find it strange that two copies would have similar hand drawn stuff, unless it was done by the band.

Some few of the Annihilator demo covers received color pencil treatment by Jeff Waters before sending them out. Stated in the latest Rock Hard mag. Question solved.

nearly 100% sure this is just a cheap dub, but as I got it with a batch of original demo's, I might as well ask...

That inlay looks just like my copy. My tape is just completely black one. I'm quite certain it's a bootleg and that the inlay is for sure missing something (like the street address).

It's the only Katharsis demo I'm missing as original.

There are many bootleg copies of this Katharsis demo floating around. One got randomly put in an order of mine a few weeks ago, the guy told me he got plenty of covers and some masters from another distro but he didn't really want to sell them since he was pretty certain they were bootlegs...

I've always been puzzled by the Legacy demo. I have the original (100% sure it is original since it even has a stamp with Alexandra Dorrie address on the other side of the insert):

I've seen a fair share of other copies that look like this:

There is an obvious difference in how the insert looks: lower border is cut off and the color of the paper is not as dark. The label on the original should also be in a pretty bad shape, due to the type of glue they used.
The guy who owns a copy on this picture told me that he got it from Alexandra back in the day. Could be a lie, of course, but assuming that he is telling the truth, I guess there are three options: these tapes are originals and just cut a bit different, they are bootlegs or these are copies made by European distributor from the originals. Does anyone know which one is it?

Even Mortiiis bought a few demos from this guy....
Some of them look original but how can you trust him?

It's rather difficult to fake this Legacy demo. Ask him to make photo of side 2 and you will see the same screw types as you have (it's no the usual screw type, mostly used by made in Germany tapes).
And if someone will do the fake of this he will fake also the stamp, that's not a big problem at all
