Found Impetuous Ritual. With 2 members of Portal. Dense and horrible. Just the way I like my DM. |

Try this: http://soundcloud.com/daemon-worship/serpent-noir-samael
And this: http://soundcloud.com/daemon-worship/01-cup-of-babylon
Also Saturnalia Temple, Obscure Anachronism, Ofermod, Nefandus, Nightbringer, Dodsengel, Daath Shadow. Arktau Eos and Halo Manash definitely. But that's for the "ritual" part, as most of the stuff you mentioned has nothing in common.
Oh yeah, Aghast! Damn, that one is pure hell. Shame that they only put one record out.... But I guess sometimes one album is enough. _________________ :DWP TERROR SQUAD:

If you're just checking out Impetuous Ritual, you might also consider Mitochondrian, Antediluvian, and Ritual Necromancy, if you haven't already. _________________

Buy the Funereal Presence 10" blindly. Sounds like you won't regret it. _________________ Good traders: Professor Black, Golden Bull, Albin, TheUnborn, knochen, Valgrinder, Sv., dangerass, dalecooper, s.charlach, into the pit

True, they mostly don't have anything directly in common with RiM, but the OP asked for:
"meandering ritualistic occult mystical atmospheric stuff, basically. The weirder and darker the better. "
...and those were the bands that popped into my head as examples of music he might enjoy, especially as he also mentioned other bands which don't have anything directly in common with RiM - The One, Urfaust, etc.
Hmmmm.... but I would say Hextentanz have more similarities to RiM than many of other bands posted by me and others. Don't you think? _________________ Barghest - Label & Distro

The third untitled Rhinocervs tape. Doesn't sound like much of what's been listed, because it doesn't sound like anything else at all. But I think you'd like it. |

@Barghest: ok I really thought he wanted stuff LIKE RiM.
Hexentanz are great, I should really really buy the LP that was finally released not so long ago. Rare to have stuff like that on LP.
but ANTE CRYST is closer to RiM than Hexetanz. They belong to the Todestrieb bands in a way.
So
Dude should check-if he wants occult ritual shit-
T.O.M.B.
BLACK SEA OF INFINITY
VOMIT ORCHESTRA (same strange religious atmosphere as RiM to a certain extent)
Aaah yeah I wish Vuel from EXTINCTION were still active... _________________ DISJECTA MEMBRAE plays Torture Doom

Yeah, the Hexentanz 'Nekrocrafte' LP re-release is definitely worth getting - except for the bonus tracks, I didn't like them much. My favourite Hexentanz release is the 'The Sabbat Comes Softly' 7" EP.
Will have to check out ANTE CRYST and many of the other artists mentioned in this thread I've not heard before. _________________ Barghest - Label & Distro

From what I remember of Ante Cryst, it was really interesting. In fact they asked me to play drums for them back in the day, 2003 or so. Wave of nostalgia when I saw that name mentioned here. |

Fantastic suggestions, all....
And don't worry about going off-course a bit. We're definitely not talking only BM or purely only like RiM. I mean RiM have changed sound a bit over time anyway, so if we've got some ritualistic atmospheric stuff in here, or anything along these lines then go for it.
By the way, upon recent recommendation, I have just taken delivery of Urkaos (on vinyl of course). Superb!!!! A must purchase....!!! It's very much like the Old God but more refined and a bit less waffly, if that makes sense. Really fucking fantastic stuff... not disappointed. And the package itself is nicely done. Not keen on the white, myself, but it still works visually.
We just need a vinyl release of their demos now...
Morbid69 - is there somewhere in the UK to order it? I can't buy shit from Ajna directly because the shipping is crippling. |
