Absolutely despise Austere's Coma II at the end of To Lay Like Old Ashes. Excessive and basically provides no use to the album and comes across as just a 'filler' track, if you can even call it that. Otherwise flawless album just somewhat tarnished by a waste of 20 minutes of disk space.

Fire away.

I actually love ambient tracks on albums.... that ambient Leviathan album is one of my favorite creepy records, I'd pay at least 22 dollars to have that on LP.

Pro-this thing we're talking about.....

Depends if it's good or not, but most metalheads write shitty ambient though anyway, as they think it's easy way to fill an album

Well true enough, I don't think it's always appropriate and it's a cheap cop out for when you've got a 12 minute "epic closer" and then half is an ambient track.....

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner has an ambient part, fwiw... Razz

Well I like the Asunder album Works Will Come Undone, but I'm really not into those long ambient tracks on it. I have no problem with ambient music as long as it's well done and grabs my attention.

I love ambient drone/noise, but to be honest, I don't really like that ambient track on there myself.

Fuck dsbm, that trombone makes me really sad in a very comfortable way. Pure melancholy.

OT: I hate long ambient stuff, ambient interludes/intros should "prepare" you for the next song/climax, not bore you to death. Ambient outros should make you calm down, but again, not make you bored to death.

Well, Ildjarn's Strength and Anger ambient tracks ARE designed to piss you off, hence the Hate Meditation titles. Razz

I love Ildjarn's ambient stuff but for the most part I always skip "Intro" and "Outro" tracks. You would think I would love the ambient stuff considering I am really into Noise and Power Electronics but I don't.

"Dreaming - The Romance" at the end of Serenades by Anathema. Useless.
