Is Dawn still a band?
Wasn't there supposed to be a follow-up to "Slaughtersun..." a long time ago?
I LOVE this band and always thought they were going to be huge.
I have all 3 of their cds in my collection and they still get play.
Is Retaliation (Grindcore band with Dawn members) still a band for that matter?

I think Necropolis announced Dawn's return at least twice.
Last I heard one of them was a Count so perhaps no need to invoke primordial forces via the releasing of records.

their website says they're recording the new album, that was last year though i think, so maybe it's done and they're marketing it?

Slaughtersun was a killer release I don't own the actual product just an MP3 album, so hopefully the album will be re released again.

I'm a Slaughtersun fanboy
Been waiting so long for a follow up. Nothing matches the intensity of this band. Henke Forss is probably my favorite BM vocalist.

I'd love to read an interview with them that explains why it has been 13 yrs since the last record...
If you have never heard them, Dawn are probably one of the best mixes of Death and Black Metal ever. Great vocals, great riffs and melodies and HARD all at once.

Always liked Dawn + Niden.Div.187. I've long since written off a new album as another "Planet satan" incident. I dont think these guys can blame the mushrooms though

I think it's been 2-3 years at least they announced that. I didn't know it takes more than a year to record an album, there was probably a major fuck up. They even released a demo track then. |

It will be a new Dawn fullength, but who knows when. They have started to record it. But Tomas, the drummer, seems to be quite busy with Gorgoroth. Retaliation is most probably RIP now, since one of the vocalist got Multipel skleros a few years ago.

| The original delays in Dawn recording new material were due to the suicide of Johan Hallberg ("Necro-Nudist" from Cranium) as he and Fredrik Söderberg were very close friends and Fredrik put all his musical projects on hold for quite a while. That came directly from Fredrik a few years back, prior to the announcement of the new Dawn album. As for delays in the last few years, no idea. But I am eager for the new Dawn, as well. |
