I'd go with Ceremony of Opposites as all songs on that album are so damn' brilliant and have their own personality whereas both WH and BR contain 1-2 tracks that sound a bit like fillers to my ears. I'd go as far as say CoO is one of the 5 best black metal albums ever as I can't see a single letdown there, supreme riffing, razorsharp vocals and possibly the best keyboards ever on a metal album.
Assuming I'm dealing with a bunch of close-minded beerdrinking metal morons, I intentionally left all post 1994 albums out of the poll as you most likely lack the needed intellectual skills to get into their latest stuff. |

I say Blood Ritual. Mostly because it was the first Samael's LP I ever listened to, he. Leaving any nostalgic thought aside, Worship Him.
Voted for BR, anyway. |

WORSHIP HIM, for sure. One of the best BM album ever. Anyway, I like Blood Ritual and Ceremony of Opposites too. I haven't heard the next material. |

Though I don't see it that way about the first two (being personal favorites of mine as well) I completely concur with Downtown Luigi Brown here about "Ceremony of Opposites". It's easily Samael's defining point, and my pick too for one of the top 5 black metal albums.
The new records are great for what they are. I haven't heard the last two though, something "Magic..." and whatever the last one was. But I enjoyed everything from "Rebellion" to "Reign of Light". |

Agreed! Samael is one of the few bands for me whose whole discography is filled with great music. Vorph is also one of the best vocalist on this side of Johan Liiva. The essential Samael album for me is Eternal. |

Samael is one the very few bands that have experimented a huge stylistical development with each album while, in the other hand, haven't wimped out nor have flirted with commercialism. Like it or not, the use and increassing addition of electronic elements is far away of being understood as a pathetical strategic move in order to achieve a wider audience.
I can't choose between any of their first three records since each one of them are unique masterpices that represent the artistic will and the necessity of Vorph and Xy on every particular moment of expressing themselves on such moods, and so does the rest of their discography. I'm not that impressed by their last two albums but both "Passage" and "Exodus" deserve my full consideration as I put them on the same level than their "classic" records which are among my favest ones as well.
I'm really glad to see that independently that many of us on this forum are mostly fond of the orthodox and conservative sounds in Metal, there's at the same time people with a good taste on those bands who bravely have dared to go one step beyond and have succeded on such a challenge. |

Blood Ritual. Worship Him is the diet version of BR, in my opinion. |

Worship Him is a monument of Black Metal, Blood Ritual is fucking great as well. Both are equally excellent.
Ceremony of Opposites is a pile of crap, as is every thing they have done since. |
