i just got back from the post office and this old lady in front of me was trying to buy some collectors stamps and the postal worker told her they don't have any and no more are going to be made until the rate change on may 12th. i was wondering if this was just for stamps or for everything. anybody know anything?

I think it's going up again. Which is going to suck because they will probably add more to that overpriced registration fee.

Postage rates will follow the cost of fuel, and by what I hear fuel is going to keep increasing forever and forever. Fucking sucks this circle of economics when all we want is our damned music. Twisted Evil

So Congress calls the head honchos of the oil industry to capitol hill the other day and grills them about their 'record profits'...conveniently forgetting that the feds themselves collect 18.4Ę per gallon, while state governments slap an additional average tax of 28.6Ę per gallon (varies by state), bringing us an average of 47Ę per gallon out of our pockets to fill government coffers. So its okay to ask US businesses to lower their prices - but out of the question that federal and local governments lower their taxes to ease the burden. The arrogance is staggering.

And congress wonders why their approval ratings are lower than the president's.

I had a theory that if the US postal service used electric cars for their smaller vehicles for the around town mail box deliveries they could keep their costs down. I mean those things donít need to reach any max speeds or anything so I donít see where the need for a gas engine would be. Of course the larger freights for cross-country and state trips would still use gasoline due to the distance and size of delivery. Itís just a dream though.

It's been going up here too. It happens every year... a better reason to buy more albums in April!

i'm sure if the small vehicles were electric it'd cut costs by a lot. i live in a small town and there's at least 10-15 of those things.

Yeah. I wish I could find that damn tape they make you use for sale someplace, everyone gets pissed when I hold up the line when I gotta ship packs registered.

Shit, two double albums from Europe are costing me $101 CDN to get to my location including the postatge. At $50 an album this is getting hardly worth collecting anymore.

Those fucking downloading sites appear more useful and appealing every fucking time I get stung for shipping. Becoming a sad state of affairs this whole ordeal.

It might be a good idea for distros to offer cds without cases. Would save on shipping drastically. Then just buy the cases in bulk from a local office supply store.
