I have both the CD and LP of Black Future. The LP was available at HA for a long time for like 20 bucks with a turntable mat.
I got the CD in some big distro for like three bucks new.
I will try to get some of this new release. _________________

This is out now, and it's awesome. I'm going to be hitting this a few times a day for the foreseeable future, I think. Great follow-up to "Black Future" with some slightly more obvious Voivod influences here and there - I love the sci fi/robot vocal sections, brief and rare though they are. _________________

Whole album downloaded and stored in my media player.
CD on order. Hopefully at some point between Ontario and Alberta, which means probably lost in China.... anyways |

To be honest I don't hear any Voivod in Vektor. I believe it's their logo that confuses people. Perhaps they're big Voivod fans but these influences have to do with classic technical thrash overall.
p.s.: Voivod don't really belong there 'cause Piggy's riffing, Away's drumming, Snake's vocals and anyway nearly every thing that made them special is very unusual for the standards of this scene. |

I mostly meant those brief snippets of cybernetic-sounding robo-vocals. Voivod is one of the only thrash bands I know that did that to give a sci fi feel to their songs (Cynic also comes to mind, but they didn't do it as well or as tastefully - and of course they aren't thrash). Vektor also will occasionally bust out a Piggy-influenced chord or two, though they were doing that as much on "Black Future" as on the new one. Generally though I agree they sound pretty different - didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Why the hell did they change the cover for the LP edition ? CD cover was much, much better. |
