Anyone into this 70's proto metal band? I just picked up the expensive reissue recently. Great stuff in the old Pentagram/Bang style.

First Captain Beyond is one of my all time favorite albums. Totaly classic. I remember reading an interview with Lips from Anvil and he said that above all else is the album that made him want to start rocking and play heavy music.

I wish I could say the same about their other releases, but they get dramatically less heavy and good through the discography.

yeah - I was stoked about ten years ago to find the original press with the hologram thingy on the front.

It gets very hippy dippy but "Dancing Madly . . ." just crushes

I picked up their first 2 recently after they were recommended by forum members on my "pre metal/70s metal" thread.

I liked the first one a lot, Sufficiently Breathless was a bit too Tull for me and I'm gonna give it to my parents.

I know some people here like Tull, just that my parents listened to a lot of that stuff when I was growing up so for me it = "parents rock".

I bought the CDs on amazon marketplace for like $5 each, as I hadnt heard the band before.

Looks like the vinyl reissue is limited to 1000 and will cost in the $25-30 range.

I've heard of Captain Beyond but haven't ever actually heard their music. The original singer from Deep Purple, Rod Evans, was in the band for CB's first two albums.

If you like ace 70`s hard rock/proto metal, the first CB album is ONE album you can buy blind.

OK If I come across that one i'll grap it. But 30$ is just too much in the moment. Have to fork some cash for NWN and others.
