Ichi the Killer[/b] anyone?

It's alright for what it is, but the CGI effects on gore killed it for me. Interesting plot though.

Yeah, the plot's great and a nice bit of head fucking peculiarity. Got me into Takashi Miike films. I personally dig the crappy CGI. From what I understand the hyper violence and OTT effects were used to exacerbate the comic book aesthetic (after all that's what it originally was). I love the scene where Ichi kills Karen, using twisted rape logic to justify the act. Go killer number one! Great soundtrack too.

Dead or Alive is another great Miike film, particularly the ending where he purposely sabotages the entire flick.

I know where Vukovar is. Just got confused on which one of the 8,000,000 90s conflicts in former Yugoslavia I was talking about. Plus Milosevic had something to do with both...

Öhm, Milosevic was pretty much behind the whole civil war in the 90ies. And there were excactly three major conflicts in former Yugoslavia (the Kosovo-conflict since the late 90ies excluded), Vukovar was part of this one here:

Jigoku ( Hell), 1960
Similar Bardo-stuff ala Inland Empire
I have not seen the remake, which is set during the Aum Skinrikyo cult sarin attack on the Tokyo subway.

Problem is no time...haha! I'll try to check it out though.

Anthrax on the soundtrack and Joe Belladonna got a small role in the film too.
