At least the band is real, their views have changed since the early days and they've not tried to hide it, they're genuine.
Overall, for me, Orchid is the best Swedish metal-album ever, amazing stuff. |

Orchid is fantastic in parts, especially The Twilight Is My Robe. Prefer Morningrise though personally. Amazing bass playing on both albums. |

Since we are all making a confession of sorts in this thread... well, I like Ghost. Not Ghost Reveries exactly, but that band Ghost... and their album Opus Eponymous.
Opeth is alright too. I'm willing to step down from the elite kvlt status you all held me accountable for. Looked in the mirror the other day, I counted more white hairs in my beard than I had kvlt points accumulated here... so a decision had to be made.
Thank you all very much for listening.

Apart from the fact that metal zones aren't digital, I think you've missed the point entirely.
The only Opeth albums I like are Still Life and MAYH. The rest (both earlier & later) bores me _________________ Ignivomous merch: abaddon_963[at]hotmail.com

Their production tends to be fitting for what they're going for soundwise. Aside from Ghost Reveries it seemed consistent with their albums.
Listening to the single right now, i agree in that i love the atmosphere and quality, but it's definitely not very exciting or interesting. I don't mind their stuff, but this one is probably not for me. I'd rather listen to Rush, King Crimson, and whatever else they probably rip off. |

Based on people's descriptions of the new Opeth I think I can say I have not heard a more repulsive description of a record in a long time. Bitches Brew? Fucking hell... there is no music on earth more horrible than funk, except jazz/funk fusion.
That being said, I have no real reason to be involved in this thread as I have heard approximately 30 seconds of this band's entire catalog. |

Man Miles was cookin' up some insane shit on those fusion albums..... I'm a big fan of his classic quartet but In A Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson et all is some next level music..... not really fair to call it "fusion" though as that era was so original and is miles (ho ho) away from what's typically regarded as fusion...... I dunno, I don't expect it to be everyones cup of tea but those records are mother fucking next level....... |

I enjoyed the new Opeth album quite a bit. Good production and good music. |

I like some part of Heritage but others not so much. Nothing terrible but a few parts did not work so well _________________ Wart-encrusted sebaceous growths

All Opeth albums are good in one way or another, including Heritage - I agree that the production on this is superb. |

I've changed my mind on this - I think Heritage is great. Took me almost two years to come around, but I'm in. I've been spinning it all week.
Commence with the banning..... |

I told you it was a grower! The new songs work really well live too. _________________

Haha, made me laugh!
True regarding their production.
I've never really given much time to their output past Blackwater park, but from what I heard of the latest one, yes, good production, but boring music, which just made me want to hear real 70's prog.. _________________ http://portentuk.bandcamp.com/ |

Deliverance is probably their most overlooked (?) album. I think it's top quality from start to finish. Ghost Reveries and Watershed are top notch too.... didn't really care for Damnation much, but I might go give it another chance..... |
