Hi folks, it's time to talk a bit about our new album - and as I don't like to talk or write about music much I can say that it is more serious and primitive than usual. Vocals are only done by Ted as I thought this would create a more solemn/introvert atmosphere. The album is called ARCTIC THUNDER because it is my fave bandname (old mega-obscure Norwegian band from the 80s that I asked the permission from to use as an album title). Meanwhile here is the cover, it is from the personal camping archives from a trip some years ago to SPÅLSBERGET in Nordmarka. IT has the usual spruce-tree skyline and also a bonfire - there will be another limited colour version with orange logo and title, because that was MY favourite colour, but the usual release looks like this in silver - as this was Ted's favourite version.

"I don't like to talk or write about music much"

yet he just can't shut up about it, although I guess he was referring to Darkthrone specifically, but still. Like the cover though.

Will the album give me icy-cold scented breath to cover up the beer?

Always excited for more Darkthrone, especially after reading that.

Same...cover is great, title would suit better for Immortal.

Why do they still have to play coy or be vague about the music style? Can they not just come out and say it... it's black metal like the albums so and so, or we did another punky heavy metal album etc etc?

I'm guessing it probably falls somewhere in between. Many will like it regardless as the same detractors will maintain their stance... but still, it's like when they mention the music style on it they are trying to play some sort of cautious game afraid to say it outright one way or the other.

Just tell us what it is straight. Laughing

Also the fact that the are going back to an older style cover makes me think they are doing the same with the music too.

I'd rather just see them break up. Their back catalog has been tainted by too many useless releases. It would've been nearly perfect if he had stopped after Panzerfuast.

That being said, that cover art is not bad. Simple and effective. It reminds me of the first Skepticism cover.

No! They have to create at least one more real black metal record. I stated many times on this board i am a poor fan boy, therefore any shit they release i like, but i also dont want to hear an Underground Resistance part II. If they release something like Ravising Grimness (what I consider their last classic record), then well I am more than happy.

They have like 5 great albums. Why do you need another average album like Ravishing Grimness? You can find many other younger bands playing in the old Darkthrone style with a lot more class and originality.
