nope. No reissues are since the 90s as the manufacturers are are digital now. Additionally 99% of most underground bands don't have the analog tapes anymore, but I think all this has been covered in other topics multiple times.

have our releases ever been earache like? Like I said we use the original dat tapes to master from which are not compressed and retain all the original frequencies which is why our lps always sound great

Both releases were mastered from original dat tapes which is why they both sound killer. Very Happy

hehe, just for anyone who doesn't know how is works, here is The Crypt reissue mastering basics 101:

Here is the breakdown. A 90's band takes their original analog mix and dumps it to dat date in it's raw unmastered form. Cds are then mastered from the dat tapes. We take those original raw dat tracks and master them specifically for vinyl, taking care not to compress anything and retain all original dynamics. The fact is that unless these underground bands had kept their original analog master tapes in a climate controlled safe since the 90s, the sound would degrade, not to mention that most of these bands don't have these tapes anymore. The benefit of the dat is that the original 90's recording is intact and not degraded over time, making it the most realistically ideal in this situation to master for vinyl. Also, most bands do save a copy of the original dat which helps a great deal.

In some cases dats don't exist and all that is left is the original 90's CD, but we try to dodge that bullet whenever possible. When not, at least those CDs can work because they were mastered in the 90s are not overly compressed or brickwalled, making it easier to master for vinyl. It is obviously the less ideal approach, but I guarantee that when we do have to go that route, we take much more care in mastering than a company like Earache who just uses the remastered brickwalled CD as an LP reissue master.

To sum up, we use dat tracks 95% of the time and always make sure we master everything for the best sound possible without sacrificing original dynamics. The ideal way would be to master from analog tapes yes, but it is for the most part not possible and unrealistic.

Well, whatever you're doing, it's working Ted. The sound quality on your releases is second to none. Simply outstanding. Cool

There is a possibility I may have a few extra black copies after all pre-orders have shipped. On another note, I'm sure everyone is aware of the fire at GZ and unfortunately our releases were affected so there will be a 1-2 week delay. They are scheduled to ship from GZ on Thursday.
