Thread for posting the source of any samples used in metal songs:

Got the idea just now listening to the Nosferatu soundtrack and noticing that Funeral Mist sampled Through Pain to Heaven at the end of Jesus Saves.

The music and sounds of battle at the end of Domitor Invictus by Conqueror are from the beginning of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

And the line "All these years I've waited to return. All these years I've waited to avenge myself!" from Arcane Pharmakon Messia by The Ruins of Beverast is from Tales of Terror.

Speaking of Ruins does anyone know where the sample from the beginning of Soil Of The Incestuous is from?

Good idea.

Vassafor - Dreadnaught (opera sample at the beginning)

Uncreation's Dawn - Black Iron (piano sample at the beginning)

I remember the sample "Sex is, well, nobody knows. But the saw, the saw is family." at the beginning of Asphyx's The Scent of Obscurity is from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

BTW, great thread pal!

It's not a sample.

Seriously? One of the band played it? Sounds like Sorabji or something similar.

Wasn't a sample either.

Quote:
WULF: Who is the operatic female vocalist for the song "Dreadnaught" off of your 2007 self-titled EP? Her voice is gorgeous, as is the piano arrangement. Did you play this piano part yourself? How did you get in contact with the opera singer, and is she a fan of Vassafor's music?

VK: I work as a sound engineer and had a job at Auckland University's music conservatorium where this woman was a 3rd year student. "Thy Hand Belinda/Dido's Lament" has long been one of my favorite pieces of music and when she broke into it as part of a weekly critique session it was amazing. A tutor accompanied her on the piano. I had already been writing Dreadnaught with this as an accompanying piece so I could't help but think that Satan was smiling that day….

SadiSSt played all the piano parts on the album. I think it sounds like a sample because of the effect that makes it sound like some old film soundtrack.

The sample "Hey now, hey now, I'm all around you, around you. Hey now, up on your heart I can sing through you." at the end of Sect Pig's Master Revealed is cut out from one of Charles Manson's interviews and is probably my favorite sample ever.

That one is great.

I have the reverse of the problem this thread's addressing: I've had a sample of a William S. Burroughs line, (being spoken by him or someone else, I don't know) "when I become death / death is the seed from which I grow", but I can't remember the song I heard it in. I think it was a doom band? If anyone knows...

I don't know if it's what you have in mind, but that quote is part of "(To Pass Away) Death March Towards My Ruin" by Loss.

Here's a list of the movie samples Impetigo used and where they're from.
