Joe Buck Yourself live fucken rips, got his cd recently and it's shithouse, it sounds like garbage, the guitar tone, vocals and everything sounds fucked...not in a good way.

What bands rip live, but are shit on record?

Destruction - the only stuff from their discography I like is Sentence of Death, Infernal Overkill and The Antichrist. They are absolutely brilliant live, nevertheless.

I didn't like the first Résistance album, but I gave them a chance at Raging Death Date this year and it was the best gig there for me, even though almost all of the bands very really great. I felt compelled to give BANG YOUR FUCKING SKULL another chance and started to really enjoy it after some more listens.

Proclamation for sure. I wouldn't listen them for a second from the LP's but the live shows are always very nice. They also sound better on live.

Ondskapt also fits into this thread, but on the opposite side. Good on record but bad on live gigs.

Hahaha I have so many great stories with that band it could probably be a thread on its own. Here's a taster... one time they supported Napalm Death here in the UK once, and through the whole set the metal fans at the front were just telling them to fuck off, while we were just shouting 'horsey' at him until he cracked! 'Fuck you guys man, we're never coming back'. So good.

Ha. The first idea that came to my mind. However, I heard that they learned to play live.

Agreed. It makes more sense somehow live, when you have to see it with the projectors (ideally) and its loud as fuck. Must have seen them 7 or 8 times now and the experience never dissapoints, and that's with them having to get past the barrier of having the mystique diminished somewhat by knowing them IRL.

I've seen Destruction three times in the last five years and I have exactly the opposite feeling. They are, and always have been, a bad liveband. Now even more so since they added a modern touch to their old classics.

Hmm, I saw Krieg live once ten years ago and they really left an impression. Bought some albums, big pile 'o rubbish.
Fueled by fire. On CD one of the lesser new thrash bands, but live they are probably the best. I saw their first European performance in Germany in front of 2000 people, and they played with such energy! Two days later I saw them in a local bar in front of 20 people, and they were possibly even more enthousiastic than in front of 2000 people.
