That Dead Congregation is fantastic, it will be one of the best albums of the year for sure. Total old school feel, but without feeling redundant.
I dig that Ignivomous too. I'm waiting for the seven inch in the mail, the song on their myspace is good. |

Dead Congregation gets better with every listen, crushing atmosphere and one of the best intro tracks i've heard in a long time . I still need to get that Ignivomous MLP, I think I have a copy waiting back in London. _________________ INTO THE DRAPE.. |

I completely agree with the last two statements. I think orphy hit the nail on the head with "total old school feel, but without feeling redundant". I probably won't be popular for saying this, but I find a lot of the current God Macabre/Grotesque rip offs like Repugnant are fucking dull as dish water, so it's really refreshing to hear a fresh approach towards the old school style, whilst still "keeping it true" so to speak.
Can't say much for Hour of Penenance I'm afraid. I like some new brutal DM, but I can't stand all this ultra technical, sterile stuff. |

I loved the Dead Congregation production most - that dense suffocating guitar sound truly epitomises a good death metal record. Something quite unheard since the first Suffocation and Gorguts albums as well the first Nile album, IMHO _________________ Looking for DEATH METAL bands!

DEAD CONGREGATION is without doubt one of the best releases of NWN! and one hell of death metal album...of morbid death metal album. Yeah, some IMMOLATION and INCANTATION influences are there, but with a major sound of theirs...
And IGNIVOMIUS is also a killer release...I got this one and EXTREMINATE, but I found the latter not as good, but still ejoyable. _________________ Unbound celestial assassins... |

well, i think ive made enough fan-boy comments about both of these bands. these two bands have made me more excited than ive been in years for the future of the metal scene. im glad a lot of people are recognizing how incredibly brilliant these two bands are.
these are definite high points in the nwn! catalog.
the ignivomous 7" is truly devastating. |

[quote="minge-eater"]personallly , i think the new hour of penance cd , blows dead congregation away[/quote/]
Hard to compare those two... my recent favorites are The Ordher and Azarath's new one. |

| The Ordher CD is fucking brutal along with the latest Azarath album. Listened to the Hour of Penance and the CD did not grab my attention. |

| Yeah, I got to check out Hour of Penance too and it didn't do much for me. It's decent but doesn't stick out from the herd of Unique Leader Suffoclones. There are better bands on that label, and none of them are as good as Dead Congregation. |

| as for the two said releases, i prefer ignivomous over dead congregation, which does kill but not as much as ignivomous in my opinion. ive never been much of a fan of immolation... |
