I just bought the s/t cd a couple weeks ago and while I enjoyed it when it first came out, I hated it afterwards. Now listening to it again years later the non-popular songs on the album (especially Don't Tread On Me and Holier Than Thou) are actually good and have been stuck in my head for a while.

If they are re-mixing it with the original bass recorded by Jason then all the power to them. It's about time. If they want to re-record the whole album then I say no. I can only imagine how they are going to wreck "Kill 'em All" with the re-recording.

C'mon, chief! I was pretty shocked the first time I threw it on the turntable, after waiting expectantly for it to be released . It sounded bad then and it sounds bad now.

And for such a stupid reason: to haze the new guy.

Definitely. Listen to the 5.98 EP, his bass playing is totally killer. If they could get that bass sound out of it I'm all from it, and I think this is the only album I'd ever say deserves a total remix.

I find it hard to understand someone who says they don't check out many new bands, but bothers to listen to newer Metallica stuff.

The live show where they played all of Kill Em All recently actually sounded pretty good.

The band completely shit on their legacy. There is no question. Worst if they're trying to re-record their only decent album just to make it sound more accessible (could be the main reason here). Someone said their newer fanbase doesn't even know about the first four albums. That's a market to be conquered, amirite ladies?

I've seen Metallica recently and the vocals sound like shit. What's worst is that the singer doesn't even try to do his job accordingly. Lazy motherfucker.

Like someone earlier said, he bullshits too much with the "oooheeehaaahs" vocal trick, and at times he just flats out doesn't sing at all. The dumbshit turns the mic to the crowd so they can sing for him. Like that's any better.

I'm not a fan, I don't have this affectionate spot for them like some of you sensitive folk. Trying to kid yourself just because they can still play their music instruments decently. Haha.

Only death is real.

Metallica has been terrible for twice as long as they were actually good at this point. I have no interest in anything they do unless it's another comedy about their lives and emotions.

I find it hard to understand that you can't understand it.

It's unbelievable that Metallica went from writing songs that dealt with corruption in the American justice system to songs like Don't Tread on Me.

The first 3 albums are great though.

Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and ...and Justice for All are still great listens. Master of Puppets (aside from a couple tracks) bores me nowadays...

Always loved Metallica, but I CAN'T STAND the way James signs the old stuff live now. But I did check out the "secret" Dehan gig, and he sounded pretty damn good. Maybe someone finally told him it sounds retarded when he tries to "sing". Step in the right direction, maybe the new album will surpass Death Magnetic....

I wonder who can? I don't know when he started with it, but the first time i heard his terrible 'melodic' voice was on the S&M video, which was a flawed experiment anyway, if you ask me. Metallica can still play the old songs very well. I watched a portion of their Rock am Ring concert of last year and the oldies sounded great. They should only do instrumental performances from now on, and let James shut the hell up.
