Released by Temple of Mystery Records

Pagan Altar “The Room of Shadows” LP + 10″ / CD
TEMPLE-005

Pagan Altar are one of the most complete and mystical bands to have emerged from the NWOBHM movement. Mixing 70’s proto-doom elements with English folk, hard rock and heavy metal, they wrote some of the most grandiose songs of the genre on the sinister “Volume 1” – and more recently, “Lords of Hypocrisy” and “Mythical and Magical” – influencing a whole generation of doom-obsessed fanatics.
Originally written thirteen years ago, “The Room of Shadows” has gone through various shapes until finally being completed two years after the tragic passing of their beloved frontman Terry Jones, who had been bravely battling cancer for a year prior. This album is not only Pagan Altar’s last record, it also Terry’s very last vocal performance, and picks up where Mystical and Magical left. Admirers of their previous works will be pleased to hear that this album is just as timeless, with its epic hard rocking riffs and enchanting, poetic macabre lyrics of olde. And thus closes the Pagan Altar legacy; which will be with us after forever…

Finally got the CD and LP from High Roller today. Very good album. Maybe not as epic/catchy as Mythical & Magical was but still great epitaph for late Terry.

Yeah, there was a delay on them... the gold LPs are in Cologne, Germany as I write this, being shipped over to us via Fedex. I have no clue when they'll be arriving in Canada but at least they are on their way. We'll be packing and shipping them as soon as we get them of course.

They hid it for many years, for obvious reasons.

Why did they hide it?

Well, imagine if your dad was the singer of your band!

I mean, Terry was really young when he had Alan so the difference wasn't so bad, but it was not something they wanted to mention.

I think it's cool actually. Going to listen to those albums again in a completely different light.

Must be weird going on tour with your dad though....mind you they didn't really tour as such much..

They got along really well actually! But yeah, must have been weird haha

Terry and Alan had a very good musical chemistry also. Alan once told me that he and his dad had exactly the same musical tastes, so whatever he'd come up that he think was good, he knew his father would love it as well. It's pretty amazing I think!

Surprised no one knew they were father and son. They never used alias/stage names and their names were always printed on the records. Interesting.

Great duo, and I see no qualms to be in a band with your dad as long as you both were on the same page about the tunes. Alan's opening lead on Daemoni Na Hoiche is so goddamn tasty and screeching.
