Agreed about Sargatanas and Repugnant (and damn, I need to hear that Morbid original too!) but I thought the Necros Christos one didn't really work very well. |

That Morbid cover on the Repugnant LP is one of the best Death Metal songs ever, imo. It's lame, cause I can't find the original song ANYWHERE (apparently it's on an old rehearsal video from '8 .. fucking brilliant song

Exhumed's cover of The Power Remains by Amebix is really great. I found most of the rest of that covers album quite forgettable.
Angelcorpse's cover of Eat Me Alive is fucking NUCLEAR!!! Love that song.
Metallica -- Helpless of course... Slayer -- Dissident Aggressor....
Seeing Inepsy play Whiplash live a number of times was classic as well. |

Satanic Slaughter - Flag Of Hate and Naglfar - Dawn Of Eternity. Just fantastic brutal covers, better than the original.
3/4 of the Tribute To Sepultura sampler on Black Sun. Coverversions of Sacramentum, Mystifer, Swordmaster, The Crown, Lord Belial, DEFLESHED, Deathwitch and Dimension Zero rule rule rule
Headhunter DC and their Alcohol cover on the Tribute To Dorsal Atlantica sampler.
I still adore the Behemoth - Carnage coverversion where they rip this song into pieces, as well as the Emperor - Cromlech and Gehenna - Transsylvanian Hunger covers on the Tribute To Darkthrone digi.
And yes, that Sargatanas cover is completely madness. |

Manticore has some great covers. Spilling Holy Blood, The Gate of Nana, and their cover of Samael's Beyond the Nothingess is fucking excellent. All their covers come out dirty, some of the best. I didnt dig their Rise of The Black Moon cover as much, though I think its pretty cool.
