Also try The ruins of beverast, another Van band, which

The opening riff on Verdunkeln's last album always reminds me of Ruins of Beverast... I'm sure the same guitar tone has been used on a RoB song somewhere....

I might be wrong but I'm sure the guy doing the clean vocals on Verdunkeln's latest album is Alexander von Meilenwald of RoB. Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2yNVwW5SnM

Meilenwald seems to play in all those bands in some capacity or another. New TROB recordings would certainly be welcome.

Funny how shitty their other project Graupel is in comparison.

The demo "Als der Nebel" is great, chilling atmosphere. Production reminds me a bit of Belketre.

It's a shame Zingultus is now with the horrible trend-band Endstille, though. What a downgrade from mighty Nagelfar.

I only got the re-release of the Verdunkeln demo and enjoy it though it hasn't left the shelf for a little while now. Just listened to 'Einblick' and on to 'Weder' now - both sound pretty killer especially 'Einblick'! Quite developed though compared to the first release and have several eyebrow raising moments that probably take some getting used to. Must add to the never-ending list.... Sad

Germany has some killer bands, up there with Norwegians for productivity.

Graupel - yeah same as the others. I bought both albums about the same time and though the debut was dull - I've probably only listened to it 4/5 times. 'Am Pranger' was a step up but I've hardly listened to that one 8/10 times. Must re-check tonight.......

I really like the self titled demo and Einblick in den Qualenfall, but the new one ( Weder Licht noch Schatten) is not my cup of tea

+1

Even more so, only checked them out last night after seeing this thread. Wish I had listened to them before; very good stuff. Also, somehow very Vn ( Urfaust & TROB), but with their own distinct style. Very good. Love all the chorused guitars and clean vocals.

I think Weder Licht noch Schatten is a grower...the more I listen the better it becomes...tracks 3 and 4 are freaking awesome...
