So, what do you have repeated and you want it to stay like that?
Like, for example I have:
Slayer "Reign in blood" on vinyl, on tape and on CD.
Deathrow "Raging steel" on vinyl and tape.
Holy Terror "Mind wars" on CD and Tape (and used to have it on vinyl...damn)
Iron Maiden "Live after death" in vinyl, tape, CD and soon in DVD.
Dark Angel "Darkness descends" on tape, vinyl and CD.
The Chasm "From the lost years..." on CD and tape.
Assassin "Upcoming terror" on vinyl and...vinyl.
Loudness "Thunder from the east" on vinyl and...vinyl!
Actually I found no reason for this to happen besides maybe forgetting that I already have that one (ok, some formats might have an extra song or something) but then again it happens with bands I regard high... _________________ Unbound celestial assassins... |

It's pretty lame to "collect em all" in my opinion
i can see someone selling a new edition to buy an original pressing or something like that, or paying big dollars for his favourite album, but having ten copies of something just for bragging rights is silly to me. You're better off owning every LP from Venom or Bathory than 10 copies of Welcome to Hell, 15 copies of the Return, etc. Even if the latter ones are shit theres still different music in there from your favourite bands.
I have one copy for the home, and one ripped to my PC so I can put it on an mp3 player for travel around town. _________________ Good traders: Professor Black, Golden Bull, Albin, TheUnborn, knochen, Valgrinder, Sv., dangerass, dalecooper, s.charlach, into the pit

Way too many. I have 10 different versions of Venom "Possessed" on LP, 7/8 Hellhammer "Apocalyptic Raids" for instance, but that's just an example.
I'm conscious it's a form of mental illness though. _________________ Into the Menstrual Night We Go-o, Hey-Ho, Hey-Ho...

Where to start...
For instance I got more than 600 Iron Maiden releases, must have at least 20 different of some albums.
And I collect lots of other bands too, not EVERY band in every possible version though, but surely more than most people think is sane.
It may seem stupid for people who don't collect, and have never collected anything. There's clearly 2 types of people, collectors and non-collectors - and I'm not only talking music here.
Ever since I was a kid I collected all kinds of stuff. Like stamps, coins, stickers, various toys, comics, beer-botles - hell even special rocks . Now I don't have the money or the time to collect many things, so I combine my collecting-desire with my love for music. Perfect match!
So for me collecting music-releases, magz etc is no different from collecting stamps or coins or whatever- exept you can enjoy the music as well as the joy of collecting. |

I have picture, white & black when it comes to Turbo´s pressings and the die hard NWN! version. Besides these there are the normal NWN version on vinyl & CD, Turbo/JL cassette & CD versions... |

Don't mistake me, I collect music as well. But like I said I'd rather have every venom album than twenty copies of each good one. Why is fucking Octagon sitting on my shelf? Because I have every Bathory LP!
Snaps I want to see a photo of where you store 600 Iron Maiden LPs!!! You would need your own hut in the back yard. _________________ Good traders: Professor Black, Golden Bull, Albin, TheUnborn, knochen, Valgrinder, Sv., dangerass, dalecooper, s.charlach, into the pit

But I have every Venom album, so it's ok for me to have several of each
I have also tons of records I hardly ever play, simply because they're not half as good as the rest of my collection.
I need to get a new digi-cam, then I will take some pics, but honestly it's nothing compared to other collectors.
By the way, the 600+ is not all LPs, also 7", cds, mcs, videos etc.
But to give an idea, here's an old pic of my video collection (VHS only):

Makes more sense than having 20 copies of the same thing in some box in the attic collecting dust. I hate hoarding, waste of money and a waste of space. |
