I will be in Rome for 5 days soon.. besides usual tourist crap what sights can you recommend for a visit? Are there good record shops or flea markets where it's likely to find decent vinyls?

Having to ask about attractions in Rome? Razz

But, in answer to your question:

The Forum
The Colloseum
The Palatine Hill (I think the House of Augustus is open now?)
The Pantheon
The Baths of Caracalla (Sp?)
The Treve Fountain
The Spanish Steps

If you're willing to take the train 40 mins or so outside of Rome (Cheap as hell) Ostia is well worth a visit.

I mean, the whole city is practically one huge tourist attraction. No idea about records, sorry lol.

Fair enough, but describing thousand(s) of years old ruins / monuments as 'Tourist crap' is more than a little brash, no?

Right, go!

The hystoric and monumental place to obviously visit are:
- Colosseo and Arch of Constantine;
- Piazza San Pietro, Michelangelo's Cappella Sistina, Vatican's Museum and necropolis
- Castel Sant'Angelo
- Fontana di Trevi
- Piazza di Spagna
- Altare della Patria
- Pantheon (really mandatory to see building, gigantic in his proportions)

hidden gems and not well known places:
- Cestia pyramid
- San Sebastiano and San Callisto catacombs
- Mamertine Prison (probably the only place with an upsidedown cross on the altar. This place was the prison of St. Peter and St. Paul)
- Capuchin Crypt beneath the church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini (you can see here horrible skull and bones arts)
- Crime Museum (Museo Criminologico), an horror real voyage through instruments of torture (includes an original iron maiden), axes and other weapons used by executioners... etc...

nocturnal life, young 'movida', traditional and old hamlet:
- Trastevere
- Campo dei Fiori

metal pub and related
- Malatempora pub near Termini station
https://www.facebook.com/malatempora.sanlorenzo

As for record store, nothing to worth the visit come under my radar.

Have a good trip!

Yeah mate, please watch your tone. We're all a little sensitive here. Make sure you don't hurt anyone's feelings.
