Listening to Graves of Archangels recently, I haven't since their gigs in the Bay. What a god damned monument. One of the best DEATH metal albums ever, and one of the most important releases on NWN!

Hurry up, release that album and take my money!

That's one of the few Incantation-inspired bands which I really like (and I'm not into Incantation itself).

They embody at 666% the real essence of TRUE DEATH METAL. One of the pillars of the underground of course...

Solid band. Nothing groundbreaking but the music is well-put. The first MLP was quite strong but the songs on the full-length lack somewhat of direction IMO. However, at least they have some personality, contrary to a lot of retro DM bands.

Took me a while a while to really respect Graves of Archangels. Great album with one of the best production jobs in recent times.

I wonder if anyone who calls them "retro" or an "Incantation clone" has even listened to their records. There's so much more than that going on!

And this. What the Jesus is "retro" about DC?! It's pure, classic, timeless devotional Death Metal.

I don't know, man. I think there's a lot of thought put into the compositions. Take the title track for instance, the transition and flow of the riffs are well done and with a good deal of dynamics. That's why it's so highly regarded and will continue to be so.

There needs to be a topic on this? I though everyone with even a bit of sense or good taste in metal worshipped DC.

I maybe didn't get too much into the record but IMO it lacked real songs, maybe because it's a bit more complex, yeah.

However, there's more honesty and dedication put to good effect here than in all these marketed products around.

Anyway, do we have to answer this? Any record nowadays is marketed as having "much more than that going on". The band didn't create a new genre but uses it its own way. That's more than what we can expect today.
