Lately I have enjoyed Control Denied a lot. Power Metalish, but with this huge "Death" sound, of course. Great stuff! _________________ www.productionsheretiques.com |

I disagree with you on the Portrait album. It's a great album, I will not say otherwise, but it worships the ass! _________________ There is a country called Tír na N Óg, which means the Country of the Young, for age and death have not found it; neither tears and loud laughter have gone near it. Seconded. Speaking of which, look into Spiritus Mortis and The Puritan. They are Sami Hynninen's post Reverend bands. _________________ Scepter Of Eligos - Sludge/Thrash

Though the demands of the thread seem more than a little hazy, the assumed criteria are certainly very sympathetic. Even that temporal exclusiveness. Many cool bands (Wolf, Las Cruces, Procession, Ironsword, Spiritus Mortis etc.) mentioned already, BUT I didn't quite trust my eyes when I saw no mention of Grand Magus; their last three albums should be ideal for the purpose. Here's a couple of other bands that might deserve a mention in this context:
RAVEN BLACK NIGHT
TYRANT (US) (King of Kings goes for the time limit)
WARLORD (ditto for Rising Out of the Ashes)
MERCY (ditto for Underground)
HERALD (Heavy Metal Wakes the Beast)
BLITZKRIEG (Absolute Power and maybe some of the other later works)
PHARAOH
Rockier stuff:
FALCON (Cirith Ungol connexion)
MAMMATUS (maybe not exactly what you're looking for but a cool band)
MUSTASCH (turned kitschy later but Above All is a great record)
Seeing as the asker seems to hail from Norway, he's probably already familiar with Obscure's On Formaldehyde; quite a decent work in its own right. |
