Montreal:
INEPSY - Motörpunk with some discharge influences... first two albums and 7" are excellent. The new album sounds more like Rock'n'roll stuff... still good, but not the same style at all. (Ex-DECONTROL members)
AFTER THE BOMBS - Crust in the style of SACRILEGE, BATHORY, BOLTHROWER... it sounds fucking deadly. So much energy going on with this band!! The vocalist is the co-owner of the Katacombes bar and the one who organized the killer Montreal Metal Massacre fest with Razor, Anvil, Exciter and Piledriver
Ottawa:
TRIOXIN 245 - Sounds like Tank and Motörhead meets Discharge. Killer stuff. I recommend ALL their stuff.
Japan also has a killer d-beat crust scene: EFFIGY, G.A.T.E.S., DISCLOSE, etc... as does Scandanavia and the US... |
Actually I didn't say that I fuck them totally, but I just don't mix with them especially their "scene"! I do collect some punk/crust stuffs like GISM, WOLFPACK, SHITLICKER, CRASS, FEAR OF GOD, AMEBIX, perhaps most of the so-called crusty dudes I hangout didn't know much about crust! That's funny!
Hope you got my point!
I'm a Metalhead who hate political or religious or ethics lyrical bands! Metal is about aggression, darkness and evil, not all these shitty mentioned subjects! |

I'm into a lot of this stuff like Axegrinder, Deviated Instinct, Amebix, Nausea, Inepsy, Extinction Of Mankind...etc
I wonder about the new Warcollapse though, that was some fast, ripping crust. |

Hails! Yeah, they are really cool. Saw them live a couple of times... it's been a while now though. You're the one releasing the Bastardator/War Ripper split? Cool! Let me know when that's out. I am really excited about that one! |

It´s even called stechcore.
D-Beat is quite an old term.
We like to refer to the usual war metal beat as "Holzfäller" - wood cutter/lumberjack (beat). |
In the crust scene, they still called it "d-beat". Usually I don't give a damn becuase most of all these bands mainly talked about crap stuffs like politics, straight edge, ethics, blablablabla...Fuck them! |
Hehe, don´t forget veganism!
And while we are at straight edge:
Alehammer - At war with straight edge

I like that!
Some people might like Mörser from Germany (musically at least), Bolt Thrower influenced.

Their debut is the best I think (Two Minutes to Doom) |

ORDER OF THE VULTURE from the US mixes d-beat punk and old school black/death metal pretty successfully in my opinion:

Sanctum never grabbed me on record... I'm a huge Bolt Thrower fan but there's something in Sanctum's sound that just doesn't click. I'll take Hellshock, Stormcrow or Filth Of Mankind over them anyday. But this stuff is more of the metal crust/stenchcore persuasion. D-beat belongs to faster/simpler punk bands like Discharge, Anti-Cimex, Avskum, Disclose, etc.
PS: I'm way into punk politics. Now start the hating. (yes I'm a vegetarian, and I'm pretty sure Yosuke/NWN is vegan.) |

No problem at all, most of my pals are vegetarians, so no hating here. (isn´t that more of a black vernacular term?).
Have yet to meet one vegan, though, who is not just a dogmatic piss-head with more or less severe personality disorders and what I call prosperity neurosis - I could imagine you might know those as well.
So, no offense to anybody, just personal experience. |

My cousins husband is a vegan, along with my cousin. They are very nice people and the husband has quite good taste in music. With me, I am not vegan/vegetarian and will never understand fully what possesses people to become so. However, I will not persecute vegetarians or vegans.
Meanwhile, on subject.
D-beat bands.
I listen to some Discharge and Shitlickers stuff. Anyone know where I can get more stuff by Shitlickers? |
