In perspective, kicking him out was the best move Maiden ever did in their whole career. As a diehard fan of early Maiden I would have given an arm and a leg to hear another album in the vein of Killers, but it's safe to say it would have been a death sentence for the band if they had kept him in the ranks for just one more lp. A waste of talent if there's ever been one, guy had such an amazing voice.

- Maiden at 1990 (when Adrian Smith left) and Metallica after 1989 (the "Black Album" - which is so "classic" for many, is a shitty one - I always thought a house / dance remix of "enter sandman" could be made by someone ).
- "Cold Lake" by Celtic Frost.
Also let me have my say, by saying that I've never liked Pantera - for me it is L.A. poser metal just played more heavy - though Darrel was a good guitarist - Pantera and Metallica killed the Metal in the 90's, no matter what everyone says - it was a sad era for heavy metal, saved only by the Black/Death scene.
edit: also I don't like modern digital / triggered productions
- and don't get me started about the 'new metal' shit like Limp Bizkit and Korn - the only good recent / famous / overground band for me, was the SOAD

Well, he was in a better shape and had a better voice on that clip, which must be from the early 90s or something, than he's got now.
But yeah, he's not had the best of careers to say the least.

Ordo Ad Chao is challenging and daring. It's very far from being commercial or wimped-out or rehashing. It's not a GREAT album but still.
Now Atthila's costumes... Yeah he should stop already we get the idea it's ok it's getting old

If and when everything looks like cheap halloween store props... then yes, quit it entirely because it looks stupid and cheap.
If you have money however and can actually look like a decent movie stage set, then by all means do it... or at least authentic cult enough with good robes and real chalices and bones, then miminal is alright... as long as it is not cheap pathetic halloween store crap, cause when it is it makes the whole effort look cheap and retarded.... which then reflects on the music and opinion of the band itself, in my expiriences anyways. |
