I enjoy Remission and everything before it. Great drumming...

Opinions on their early efforts?

I really like all their stuff, no exceptions.

Great drumming, great guitars.
I like how they combine classic rock and metal with modern rock and noise.

Can't wait for the new album....

I like Remission, Leviathan and Crack the Skye a lot. Blood Mountain never clicked with me, and The Hunter was dull imo.

all of them except the hunter. Hunter was boring and just not very cohesive.

Liked remmission and leviathan then they got too clean for my taste. I mean the riff on march of the fire ants is just astounding.

Completely agree. Mastodon was one of the bands that got me into metal, around the time of 'Leviathan', but they completely lost me after 'The Hunter', as well as their shoddy live performances. I've seen them four times over the years. The last two times have sucked and I left early the last time.

I liked Life's Blood and Remission. Everything else was pretty mediocre to just flat out shitty.

Not my cuppa to listen to but I saw them twice around the time of Remission (before and after its release, I think). They were obviously aiming for bigger things even then; it sounded like they had really thought about their style and worked on the smallest detail of each song. Boring on record though.

Remission and Leviathan are good, and the followup had its moments but never recaptured the good riffs of the first two.

The early stuff is ok when they sounded like Maiden meets Tallica meets Neurosis.

Remission has major balls. The first two songs are so damn good.

The drumming on remission is fucking mental, leviathan is an amazing record, everything after is pretty crap, blood mountain is a terrible record.
